In May 2017 I started my Master's at the UAC School of Global Management University, located in Doral, Fl. The university shot its doors on February 16 of this year due to financial issues. Back in May 2017, I decided to pay a year in advance of my tuition (from June 17 to June 18) in order to forget about that, and focus on my studies but when the university closes nobody responded to the 5 months tuition that was remaining from February 18 to June 18.
I started contacting the faculty staff but they were no longer working at the university; I was able to get in touch with the dean via email (who was also the owner of the university) to get my money back, he compromised to give me a check (this was ends of February), after that first respond 3 more emails passed *** I was still waiting for the check. Meanwhile, the faculty staff and students affected by this horrible situation decided to do a class action against the university. Here is where the Dean's Attorney, ***, approached me and offers me the check on behalf of her client. I got the check on April and when I went to the bank to cash it out the teller tells me they cannot give me the funds without explanation. At that moment I call the attorney in charge of the class action and he tells me to wait because they're trying to negotiate with them. Months passed *** two weeks ago, the attorney says they couldn't do anything and there was no case, and all I was thinking was about my money because I trusted in an institution and decided to do a sacrifice by paying for a service in advance in order to have a better future in this country.
Since nobody helped us with this unfair situation, I decided to deposit the check to my bank account and turns out it bounced. We're talking about $1721 that legally belong to me because I didn't get the service and now that money can help me paying another tuition because I still want to have a Master's degree.
Product_Or_Service: Tuition
Refund I would like to have the money for those 5 months tuition I paid in advance and didn't get the service. They must pay me my money back since it's rightfully mine.
Case was solved directly with the business. All good now. Thanks
