Review: HelloI am emailing & reporting a major sanitation & disgusting gross problem at a restaurant that myself & 2 other friends visitedon 6/30/2013. It is called Shawarma House in San Diego,1290 University Ave(between Richmond St & Vermont St)San Diego, CA 92103Neighborhood: Hillcrest(619) 574-1644Myself & friends decided to try this place since we never been & just before & when we walked in we noticed the cash register covered in dust/dirt. Secondly,noticed that they offer fountain drinks but obviously have not been working for the past few months so they are selling canned sodas. thirdly while walking to the table near the window & sat down, we then tried the food which was god awful & terrible, I didn't finish what I ordered cause I was so grossed out. Also to top off theevening visit, my friend sitting across from me leaned over to the window & noticed major dust & dirty & which turned out to be bug droppings everywhere &then my friend looked underneath the table & saw a dead cockroach by my foot. While we were about done my friend then noticed using the same utensils for cutting & flipping different meats/products which to me I do not think different people want another person's meal tasting on their food. My friends & I did not make a scenedue to other people coming in but we were all so grossed out & disgusted. I do not know how this place got a A rating. This resturant needs to be closed downfor a couple weeks & cleaned up ASAP or there are gonna be some problems...I mean it seems that those 2 people that work there do not clean once they close,cause there is so much dust,dirt & dead insects everywhere underneath tables that they are not seeing.I would like in respond what is going to happen to this place because it should not be still open, it needs to be shut down this week & looked at ASAPunless you people want to eat with dead insects by your feet.Thanks,Mr. [redacted]Desired Settlement: I WOULD LIKE THIS RESTAURANT TO BE SHUT DOWN ASAP & MAJORLY CLEANED UP & INSPECTED ASAP, UNLESS YOU & OTHER WANT TO EAT THERE WITH DEAD BUGS/INSECTS BY YOUR FEET. & I WOULD LIKE THAT A RATING FROM THEIR WINDOW TO BE REMOVED & CHANGED TO A D OR F & CLOSED UP FOR A MONTH FOR CLEANING.

Hi [redacted] I'd like to thank you for contacting me about a troublesome customer, I do apologize for the late response.
I would like to address the issues the customer was having in the order stated. He first had a complain about the cash register being "covered" in dust/dirt.. I would like to know how that's even possible if its used on the daily? There isn't even a possibility of that happening because everything is touch screen and if it was "covered" then there would problem with it when we were to touch it. Secondly, he had an issue with the soda fountain. last time I checked it wasn't mandatory for a business to have a fountain that works. There is a sign on it and we do let the customers know that it is broken there for we do have an alternative and sell canned sodas and bottled drinks (such as Snapple, vitamin water, Gatorade etc). The letter I have received from you is right in front of me as I type this and it says "..But obviously has not been working for the past few months." You'd think a customer who has come in the PAST would observed that. Thirdly, claims he didn't finish his food because it was awful.. then complains he was grossed out about the situation. Pick a story to stick to. Was he complaining about the food that "tasted so bad" or the environment? Fourthly, he claims he saw "bug droppings" at the window and a cockroach next to his "foot". The window ledges are white and very visible.. you'd think it would be obvious for people to complain about this but what he doesn't know is that we have bleach and sponges that we scrub the window ledges with WEEKLY. And we do have a exterminators who come in from time to time and health inspectors who drop by randomly... we wouldn't be able to run a business if it didn't qualify for being clean. His fifth, complain was that we use the same utensils for cooking/ flipping and complains he doesn't want to taste other peoples meals.. we have three individual tongs to set raw food, cooked food, and pick up bread with. and A few different spatulas and tools.. as a successful restaurant who has been running for a year now, we do know how to use our utensils and don't need anyone to tell us how to do our job. And as far as tasting other peoples meals, I think that got answered with common sense. We don't use the same spoons or dishes without washing them first for him to be that "Worried."
Also we are located in Hillcrest around hospitals, offices, clinics and other high class buildings. We have regulars who come in a few times a week during there lunch break. If it was as bad as [redacted] makes it sound we wouldn't have regulars, better yet any customers.
The inspector came on July 23rd 2013 and was shocked about how much this customer has to say about us. He was trying really hard to find at-least one thing he could match up to any of the complains. But of course nothing [redacted] has said was accurate or honest.
If the inspectors and city had a problem with the place being dirty or bad they would of gave us a C not an A. But [redacted] thinks its his choice to say that we "deserve a D or an F "
I would love to fax over the inspection report and any of the previous ones, and would have really appreciated for him to confront us about any of the issues he was having. Feedback is always great! :]
