Shalash Sales & Service Reviews (%countItem)

I have purchased a car as is but ask the seller/dealer if there were any problems with the car and specific parts on the car and he lied at purchase.
when I purchased the car (July 12 2019) the two front tired were flat and had been like that for multiple days. I asked him about it and he offered to patch two dry rotted tires. the back left wheel had only 3 good lug nuts on the studs and I also brought this to his attention. the car was making a squeaky sound the first day also and was shaking slightly. he said these are all maintenance problems. I didn't know what was wrong with the car at the time but he kept brushing it off when I brought it to his attention. he let me drive off with the car and told me to bring it back in the following week so he can patch the front tires free of charge. after taking it home and did further inspection I realized that patching the car would not work because it was dry-rotted so I took it upon myself to purchase two new Firestone tires later that week. when I brought it in to Dayton tire two guys there told me that the dealer took advantage of me and sold me a car with multiple problems. they told me that the back two tires had multiple threads messed up on the wheel and needed to also be replaced. they told me that my back tires were also dry-rotted and would blow off if I didn't get the bolts pressed out and replaced. later that week after I changed the front two tires the back left tire popped (due to it being dry-rotted) I put a donut on and drove to get it replaced at wayne tire center tire shop on wayne avenue. they also told me that two of my bolts' threads were messed up and wouldn't tighten all the way on. (just so I dont forget on the day of purchase two of them were messed up on the back left wheel and two on the back right wheel). a mechanic,(from my job that I lost due to the car needing attention more than regular) also told me that the car idles a little loudly and shakes a little too much. I then brought it into an actual White Allan Honda dealership and they told me the same thing. he told me that there were faulty hoses, wrong hoses, hub caps missing, a wrong battery that was smaller and would probably give trouble in the winter, liquid was sprayed all over indicating that a something went really wrong, the back wheels messed(like everyone prior said) and is shaky and needs an alignment AND balanced. 2-3 weeks passed and I called Shalash again (probably the third or fourth time now). I told him the facts and what all three places/people said and he started getting angry and acting like the guys that looked at my car didn't know what they were talking about. I felt cheated and asked for $2000 of the payment or fix what was wrong with it free of charge. he said no to the price drop and told me to bring it in and he will have his guy look at it.( there's more but I m running out of time) three days passed and we were in the 4th week of me having the car. I brought the car to him and paid him what I owed after the first month payment was due. I physically showed him but he wasn't paying attention and was trying to make another sale instead of listening to me. he said he couldn't fix it then but bring it in the following week. I needed my car for income because I lost my job due to him. I needed to drive my car because I door dash. the tire fell of on the highway he told me to tow it to his guy because it was supposed to be fixed free of charge by him but he lied. and overcharged me for horibly used parts. I have pictures

Desired Outcome

billing adjustment and proper repairs or car for free? business shut down !

Mr. purchased his second vehicle from me. The first one was a straight cash deal and the second vehicle was a financed deal. he is claiming his vehicle had two flat tires and I promised him to patch them up for free. This is not accurate whatsoever. If one of the tires was low on air and we put air in the tire, this would have been the extent of anything we had done service for him. we sell all our vehicles "AS IS" and would never claim, promise, or imply we would fix his vehicle. The fact that he test drove the vehicle and drove it off the lot is evident the vehicle had no mechanical issues. He purchased his vehicle on July 12. I heard from him after Aug 1. At that time, he explained to me that he got 2 new tires in the front but two used tires in the back. he, at that time, pointed out to me there was a wheel stud that was either rusted off or broken off. I explained to him the place that replaced his tires should not have put 2 used tires on his vehicle without being able to put five lug nuts on. I told him I work with a very reasonable and reliable mechanic that gives me great prices if he wanted me to get involved or he needed to take it back to the entity that sold him the tires. obviously, he needed to leave the vehicle if he needed urgent attention. He decided to drive off and after three weeks, he calls me and tells me he almost died because the wheel/tire came off while he was driving. I instructed him to tow the vehicle to the mechanic I recommended. he did so and the mechanic fixed the problem. after all this was said and done, he complained that he should not have to pay the repair bill. He neglected the problem and waited until the wheel came off. this was not the condition he purchased the vehicle from me in. He admittingly took the vehicle to many different service departments but that was because he was unhappy with the overall cost of the vehicle. Someone told him he over payed for the vehicle and he is failing to understand there are financing charges and interest that is associated with any vehicle purchased under the financing umbrella. He demanded I give him almost 1/4 of the price off as a discount and repair all of his negligence for free and this is unacceptable.

I came upon an ad *** Shalash had of a Jeep Sahara for sale. The pictures looked gorgeous so I drove down to Dayton. I'm not sure how the pictures didn't show it but that Jeep was bubbling with rust everywhere. Anyway, I saw a Jeep Liberty that looked good so I took it for a drive. Handled well, bought it, and drove home to Delaware with no noticeable issues. During the purchase process *** repeatedly gave me verbal guarantees that this vehicle was safe and everything worked and there was nothing mechanically wrong. He said more than once "I promise I would never put you and your son in an unsafe vehicle." The next morning I notice the back of the Jeep is covered in oil. I took it to my mechanic where they told me the oil & transmission pans and lines were pitted and leaking. Quoted me a certain amount in repairs. I called *** immediately and told him how I unhappy I was that this car was needing major repairs already and I wanted to return it. He offered to have it towed back to Dayton and would do all the repairs my mechanic listed for no more than $600 at most (my mechanic was more than double that). So I said ok. The car was towed back to Dayton and repairs were supposedly done a week later. I drive down and his mechanic charged me $900 (without fore warning) and not even for all the repairs we spoke about! Again I immediately called *** and he said he would take care of it when he was back in the country and send me a refund. A few weeks, several texts and voicemails un-returned later the engine seizes while I am driving home from out of town with my son. On a Sunday no less. So being stuck in a town I don't know I had to have the engine rebuilt for $2600 to get home. Due to "dirty" oil put in during the pan repairs. Now here I am 6 months after the purchase looking at needing a new transmission. This man has avoided me and sold me a POS. I understand used cars need maintenance but this has been absurd for 6 months into ownership.
Product_Or_Service: 2005 Jeep Liberty

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I guess ultimately I want him to lose his business license or to be investigated at least and to practice better ethics going forward. And I want my money back from the sale. He lied continuously about the quality of vehicle he was selling me and a verbal guarantee has to stand for something anymore. I mean that is a verbal express warranty! At least in the insurance world I would have been liable for something like this when I was an agent.

Shalash Sales & Service Response • Jan 26, 2019

This young lady purchased a vehicle from us in the same manner that we sell all our vehicles. It was listed for sale on the Internet and she stop by, test drove the vehicle, and was completely satisfied with the vehicles mechanics, cosmetic appearance, and value. She paid for the vehicle and drove it home from Dayton to Columbus Ohio. This drive alone one till one that she purchased it in perfect running condition. Having said all of this, I went out of my way and helped her tow the vehicle back to Dayton to a very reputable mechanic that are use myself. I did this, because she mentioned a mechanic repair shop had quoted her more than $1000 to repair a leaky Oil pan. I gave her the quote that this gentleman had quoted her. I explained to her that I am unable to fix anything on the vehicle because I sold her the vehicle "as is". I simply became a Messenger and was helping her try and facilitate her repair with this repair shop. How complaint should not be against me, rather it should be with the gentleman who repaired her vehicle. She dealt directly with him, paid him directly, and this somehow trying to make me feel like the purchase of the vehicle was flawed. Her comment that her engine eventually filled and was ultimately replaced is complete New news to me. Again, I only facilitated her in fixing her oil leak.

Customer Response • Feb 01, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The mechanic in question was an employee of Shalash Auto. It was not some third party mechanic as is being suggested. The reason I had the vehicle brought back to Dayton was because *** said he "wanted to make it right" and since he had promised the cost of repairs would not exceed $600 I agreed... Now 5 months later I have spent nearly $4,000 in repairs and have discovered the oil & transmission pans that were supposed to be new were not such. I also just discovered that he bought this car at an auto auction and it was announced at the auction to have "structural damage" and a branded title. He knew full well this was NOT a safe vehicle and did not disclose any of that to me prior to purchase. So I want a full refund of the purchase of this vehicle now. I cannot, in good conscience sell this vehicle to anybody else and it should not be on the road at all. Again, several times during the purchase process he said "I personally guarantee there is nothing wrong with this car" and " I would not put you or your son in an unsafe vehicle."
