Shaffer Tree Service

Last Spring I contacted [redacted]r about having 6 trees cut down on my property through a special program they offer. They recommended Shaffer Tree Service in New Castle, Pa. On June 3rd, 2015 Shaffer's came to give me an estimate. Mr. Shaffer told me they couldn't get to me right away as his bucket truck had been down. It was now repaired but they had a backlog to get caught up on before they could cut my trees. I signed a contract with them stating I would finance $2500.00 through the [redacted] program & I'd pay them cash of $2400.00 to cut down the trees & remove the stumps. In mid-December when they had neither shown up or called me to explain the lengthy delay, I called [redacted] & asked to have the contract cancelled. I desperately need to have those trees removed as they are a hazard because they are so tall, half dead & are ruining my driveway & clogging up my gutters from pine needles. Shaffer's Tree Service came highly recommended, but I am highly disappointed in their unprofessional behavior in not following through with work they'd contracted to do for me. In the meantime I have had to use the cash I'd set aside to pay for this tree removal because I'm on a retiree's income & I had several high car repair bills. I don't know how I'll ever be able to get these trees cut down. Shaffer's Tree Service should have done the job for me while I had the cash portion of the total charges to pay for it, or at least have gotten in contact with me stating they were unable to do it so I could get someone else to do it. I'm very upset & unhappy with them & definitely would not recommend them to anyone else.
