The front door is not part of the 10 year warranty. It is the homeowner's responsibility to maintain proper paint coverage to protect the door from moisture etc. The homeowner has not maintained the door properly.

As previously stated, the defect in craftsmanship and material is isolated to the door frame. the door itself is in satisfactory condition. In addition to this, the frame has been painted 2 times since we purchased the home in 2008, so the response from Shade Tree Construction Inc in regards to the homeowner not maintaining the property is both inaccurate and non-factual. Section 3 of the Limited Warranty as per Minnesota Statues Chapter 327A states "...which vitally affects or is imminently likely to affect use of the dwelling for residential purposes to the extent that the home becomes unsafe, unsanitary or otherwise unlivable." The rotting door frame constructed by Shade Tree Construction Inc. is causing an unsafe and unsanitary environment; and if left unaddressed will result in an unlivable dwelling. The defect is a result of faulty craftsmanship and/or defective material; I would appreciate if Shade Tree Construction Inc. and the Builders Association of the Twin Cities would honor the warranty which was include as part of the purchase of my home.
