Review: On Friday June 14, 2013, I sent pictures of a needed repair to a seam in my 15'x15' canvas awning to [redacted] via email. His website clearly represents that "Shade One can repair or replace any awning fabric from any residential or commercial awning system". He indicated by phone, the repair would cost approximately $95. He insisted that if I take the awning down and get it to him, it would speed up the return time. I delivered it to his home on June 15, 2013. I tried contacting him regularly by phone to determine where in the process the repair was and when I could expect its return. On June 28, he left me a voice message saying I would have it back before the July 4 holiday. After the July 4 came and went I made several attempt to reach him by phone and left several voice messages. After finally answering, he belligerently tells me it was not repaired and would call me when it’s completed and immediately hung up. In order to get through to him, on Fri. July 13, my wife calls him to ask when the awning repair would be complete as a family party is planned and the awning is needed. [redacted] answers the phone. She clearly indicates to him that we wanted the awning returned regardless of whether the repair was complete. He says he will deliver it on Sat. July 13. As no one would be home later in the afternoon on 7/13, I call and leave a message that I will pick it up in lieu of his delivery. No return calls and no delivery. On Sun. morning 7/14, my wife calls and pleads for the awning. [redacted]:" I will deliver later today" He calls back later in the afternoon. "I just completed a job and am on my way to pick it up and deliver it to you" No delivery. On Mon. 7/15, I filed a police report with the Lavallette Police department reporting the awning stolen. Still no word from [redacted] or any sign of my awning.Desired Settlement: I want my awning returned. It is expensive and could easily be repaired My home suffered significant damage from Hurricane Sandy and have worked diligently at great expense and effort to repair my home to be able to move back into it by summer. The awning is critical to shade the entire deck on the front of the house that is exposed to the afternoon sun. In the summer, the heat is unbearable without it. The repair needed would not have taken any more than a week to complete to any reputable operation. The lack of communication from [redacted] is not acceptable. I will be publicly warning other potential customers to steer clear of [redacted] due to his lack of organization and negligent behavior. Shame on me for not doing my homework before engaging this incompetent loser.

I telephoned Mrs. Whalen the next day and she confirmed receipt of the awning fabric. We apologize again for being unable to repair the awning fabric and the inconvenience that caused. - [redacted]
