Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2015/06/15) */ Section 4-401(c) of the Uniform Commercial Code provides the following in regards to the post dating of checks: "A bank may charge against the account of a customer a check that is otherwise properly payable from the account, even though payment was made before the date of the check, unless the customer has given notice to the bank of the postdating describing the check with reasonable certainty." The Consumer who originated the complaint is not a customer of Sentry BankThe Consumer did not provide notice to Sentry Bank regarding the postdating of the checkThis complaint should be filed against the bank that has the Consumer's account as this is the bank that honored the postdated check against the Consumer's accountSentry Bank simply cashed the check for our customer and presented the check to the Consumer's bank for reimbursement Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (3000, 8, 2015/06/16) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) If one does not know where someone banks at it would be impossible to notify the bank who originally accepted the check with a date that was not yet valid You can't put blame on a bank that provided reimbursement for the check, they did not accept it from a customer and hand money out for it, Sentry Bank did that when the check was brought to their bank So if the date on the check doesn't matter, why is there a spot for it? Does Sentry Bank print a section for the date on their checks? If I presented a check with a date from or a date for Sentry would cash it? Sounds like Sentry Bank would be a great bank for those who live paycheck to paycheckThey could start advertising "Broke, need money NOW? Bring in your post dated payroll check! We will cash them!" Final Business Response / [redacted] (4000, 10, 2015/06/17) */ Sentry Bank acted in a manner that was consistent with both our policy and Section 4-401(c) of the Uniform Commercial Code

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/06/15) */
Section 4-401(c) of the Uniform Commercial Code provides the following in regards to the post dating of checks:
"A bank may charge against the account of a customer a check that is otherwise properly payable from the account, even though...

payment was made before the date of the check, unless the customer has given notice to the bank of the postdating describing the check with reasonable certainty."
The Consumer who originated the complaint is not a customer of Sentry Bank. The Consumer did not provide notice to Sentry Bank regarding the postdating of the check. This complaint should be filed against the bank that has the Consumer's account as this is the bank that honored the postdated check against the Consumer's account. Sentry Bank simply cashed the check for our customer and presented the check to the Consumer's bank for reimbursement.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2015/06/16) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
If one does not know where someone banks at it would be impossible to notify the bank who originally accepted the check with a date that was not yet valid.
You can't put blame on a bank that provided reimbursement for the check, they did not accept it from a customer and hand money out for it, Sentry Bank did that when the check was brought to their bank.
So if the date on the check doesn't matter, why is there a spot for it? Does Sentry Bank print a section for the date on their checks? If I presented a check with a date from 1900 or a date for 2050 Sentry would cash it?
Sounds like Sentry Bank would be a great bank for those who live paycheck to paycheck. They could start advertising "Broke, need money NOW? Bring in your post dated payroll check! We will cash them!"
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2015/06/17) */
Sentry Bank acted in a manner that was consistent with both our policy and Section 4-401(c) of the Uniform Commercial Code.
