The alarm/remote start was installed in this customer car OVER years ago, it worked flawlessly since thenRecently he took the car to the dealer because of the airbag light staying onThe service people at the dealer replaced several parts but the problem persisted, since they could not identify the problem they blamed the alarm for being connected to the car wires and they want to replace the harness to proceed with the check upWe send one of our technicians to the [redacted] dealer at their request and to check the wiring connections, they agreed on having the alarm/remote start device removed so they can continue the troubleshootOur tech did not find any issues regarding the alarm/remote start install and the only reason they want to replace the harness is because the alarm/remote start was connected to it (the harness)The tech there said that the reason that they could void the warranty is because an aftermarket device was connected to the carThey expected that the alarm will work magically without any wires connected to the carWhat they are doing is illegal.Federal Law says that you can purchase and install aftermarket products on a car without voiding the car's warranty( [redacted] ***)? Manufacturers (or authorized Representatives) cannot: [redacted] Condition a warranty on the purchase and use of its own parts and services[redacted] Refuse to honor a warranty unless the manufacturer can show that an aftermarket accessory is the cause of a particular malfunction otherwise covered by warranty.Federal Trade Commission (202)326-2222.I am very sorry for this customer but what the dealer Service Department is doing is penalizing him for purchasing a product that will add safety and convenience. We have been is business for years and we installed thousands of alarms in vehicles, this is the first time that a Dealer conditions a warranty to the replacement of wires which in the worst case can be easily repaired.Marcelo L***President

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *** and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint
Since the vehicle is my wife's primary mode of transportation and is frequently used to get our grandkids to and from school I felt it was in our best and safest interest to have the wire harnesses replacedAfter 2+ weeks the vehicle is back in our possession and we feel comfortable that we will have no more electrical issues that may have occurred do to the installation of the alarm. As far as the insinuation that I am taking sides with the "BIG CORPORATION" nothing could be further from the truth. If I had not seen how this alarm was installed I might agree with youThat is not the case. The way the alarm was installed HAS caused the electrical damage to my vehicle. To ascertain that the problem with the vehicle was caused by *** or *** is ludicrous. My vehicle was NOT part of the recall. I believe the recall was because of metal shrapnel being released when the air bags deployed. My air bags would not deploy because of the alarm installation.I have done research on this matter, have pictures, documentation, the wire harness and more importantly the alarm. The offer of $to make this "NONSENSE" go away is unacceptable. If a reasonable offer is not made I am prepared to take this to the next level.

Les called to respond: We put a new starter in it for her a week after she bought it. Then we sent her to a repair center as she stated it still had the problem, they referred her to Dodge dealer. Dodge dealer in Hornell repaired the vehicle and we paid for all repairs up until this point. Then she...

called Dodge dealer again and had them work on it again, they called me and they could not find anything wrong with it. She was not happy, given they could not find anything wrong with it, I would not agree to pay for the diagnosis fee. Then we did not hear from her for a few months, now she is well out of warranty which was 60 days or 3000 miles which ever is first.  We explained to her warranty is up and it is her responsibility, and then she filed complaint with the Revdex.com. We are not responsible for anything further.
