Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: It was not See-Thru Windows that ultimately resolved the gutter issue. In fact, See-Thru Windows' response was that they contacted the makers of the gutters ([redacted]) and were told that the damage was done by squirrels, which was considered and Act of God and not covered by [redacted]'s warranty. See-Thru then offered to repair the damage for $250.
I did not accept See-Thru's answer but rather followed up myself with the [redacted] manufacturer. [redacted]'s personnel and service were excellent! They sent out someone to assess the problem. They determined that the problem was in installation and not squirrels or any other Act of God. They kept us apprised at all times. They arranged for one of their installers to order the materials needed and to come to our house and fix all of the issues, all at no cost to us just because it's their product and they wanted to make things right.
I would wholeheartedly recommend [redacted]. I will not recommend See-Thru Windows and Doors to anyone who is looking for good products and service.
Regards,

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: The information is incorrect. My response is as follows:
“…there was an issue with dust in house even though plastic was hung over door to the bathroom.” There was no evidence that plastic had been hung over the door. If it was, it was not hung correctly.
The walls are not made of drywall and mortar; this house was built in 1949 and the walls are plaster.
The company’s response includes “we lowered Ms. [redacted]’ price” and refers to “the discounted price;” there was never any discussion of lowering or discounting the price. The contract price did not change.
Samples of wainscoting were not provided. I did not see the wainscoting until it was installed and I find it very difficult to believe that they “have a lot of residential customers that love the wainscoting.”
The reason I did not want them to return was they were not preparing the drywall properly for painting (using old-fashioned tape for the seams, for example). They also damaged the door frame and said it was already damaged. At that point I realized that the main floor bathroom was not going to be completed properly and I made the decision to have someone come in and do it properly. This was done quickly, professionally, and without all the dust.
The bottom line: My experience with [redacted] and See-Through Windows was terrible and I would not recommend them to anyone. They misrepresented themselves in their response to my complaint and while I don't want to pay them anymore money, I will do so because I signed a contract and I am a person of integrity. Unfortunately, I don't thing that is true with their employees.
Regards,
[redacted]
See-Thru Windows apologizes for this unfortunate accident and apologizes for any inconvenience. A refund for the amount of damages requested will be issued immediately.
Sincerely,
See-Thru Windows
Dear [redacted],
We are in receipt of a complaint #[redacted]. **. [redacted] called our service department because of a broken window sash. See-Thru Windows scheduled a service appointment on 5-28-14 to measure the broken sash, in which we had to reschedule due to our service...
technician had a serious illness and had to be hospitalized and under go surgery. See-Thru Windows had to move customers around until our service technician was able to perform work. We rescheduled **. [redacted] for 6-4-14, took the measurements of the broken window and ordered the replacement sash. The replacement sash arrived which takes between 2-3 weeks and we are scheduled to replace the sash on 7-17-14 between 9am-11am and the service will be complete. Please contact me with any questions.

Review: I previously filed a complaint against this company on February 27th, 2013. I purchased new windows through this company in 2010 and I was satisfied with the product. Then I started to get sales calls and when I politely asked not to be called for sales, I was told that my number would be taken off of their lists. I filed the complaint in February after I was hung up on when I expressed my frustration that I was still getting calls. They responded to my complaint and said that I would not be contacted again.
I just got a sales call from See-Thru Windows and doors again, from a gentleman named [redacted]. I told him that I was not upset with him but that I had asked on multiple occasions not to be called and that I would be filing an additional complaint with the Revdex.com because of my dissatisfaction.Desired Settlement: I do not want to be contacted by this company again.

To Whom it may concern,
We received a brochure about bathroom remodeling from someone at the Fairfax County Fair in the summer of 2014. We had no intention to remodel our bathrooms at that time, but thought it would not hurt to inquire. A Sean M[redacted]r representing See-Thru Windows came to our home in August 2014 and took measurements and gave us an estimate for remodeling our three bathrooms. We thought the cost to be too high, but Sean M[redacted]r said he would get it financed for us for about $150 per month for 5 years. My wife and I said: “We can afford that.” Plus, Mr. M[redacted]r said the monthly payment would be a decreasing amount each month.
When push came to shove, he informed us that the financing would start at $440 per month, but he said the amount would decrease each month. We reluctantly signed up for the financing but just recently found out from Wells Fargo that it will be a consistent monthly charge of $440/month for 5 years! I can provide the details of the financing if you like. When I called See-Thru Windows they still believed that the monthly payment would decrease but Wells Fargo says that is not true.
Needless to say, had this information been told to us up front, we never would have agreed to have the remodeling done.
I believe this is false advertising to entice people to remodel rooms in their homes.
Review: See Thru Windows is advertising on its website (http://www.see-thruwindows.com/about-us) that it is a proud member of the Revdex.com. Those of us who bother to check up on this learn that there are 16 complaints against the company and that the company is NOT certified. They may also be misrepresenting other certifications.
Someone from the company came out to give me a roofing quote on Saturday. The salesperson, [redacted], claimed that the company was GAF certified. GAF manufactures quality shingles that anyone can buy and install. GAF "certification" comes with a guarantee that the company has sent its employees to GAF for training. In exchange, GAF offers a guarantee on any shingles installed by one of its certified installers over and above what the contractor provides. Contractors like to brag about this certification. [redacted] certainly did. But all it says on the See Thru Windows website is "Yup, we do roofing too!"
I checked online at the GAF site. You can type in a phone number to check on certification. I typed in every phone number available and came up with nothing from GAF.Desired Settlement: The company is lying about Revdex.com certification and is probably also lying about GAF certification. These cold-call operators should maintain truth-in-advertising practices.

To Whom it may concern,
In reply to complaint #[redacted]
See Thru Windows has been a credited business with the Revdex.com up until 2012 when I [redacted] took over accounting. On my behave I was not aware of making arrangements with The Revdex.com and let oi r accreditation fall through the crack. As of now we have removed our Revdex.com accreditations from our website until this complaint is cleared off and I will take all steps needed to make our business accredited back with the Revdex.com, See Thru Windows is GAF certified and will attach proof with this letter.
Sincerely,
Review: After a sales presentation we decided not to purchase the companies windows. We have received at least 4 calls since then from the sales department. In the first phone call I told them we purchased windows from another company and why we did not purchase from them (i.e., rudeness and high pressure from the sales rep, and high cost of product). During subsequent calls I told them to put us on their Do Not Call List. I am still receiving calls.Desired Settlement: I only want them to stop calling us.

Review: on may 1, 2013, see-thru windows installed four window in my home. upon installation, they put a big hole in my right widow panel and cracked the left window wall. I called [redacted] twice and left a voice message on the answering machine and as of yet, I have not heard from [redacted]. Dear [redacted],
Review: [redacted] windows are not efficient as they described when installed, year after year we have to install plastic sheets inside wall to prevent the cold air coming in and to prevent large build up of condensation.
Few moths ago we called SEE THRUU WINDOWS and complained about this issue. They sent a "technician"
He checked only one window and his comments were : "as soon I walked in , I felt humidity in this house " looking at few of our plants in the house then he said : "condensation on the windows is due to the plants in the house"
Then he continued: "the widows are doing their job "and left.
We left message to his company, but never heard from them.
In one part (sheet) of our contract states that "TWO POSITIVE ACTION CAM-TYPE LOCKS"
"FULL SASH INTERLOCK WITH DOUBLE BARRIER SCHLAGEL WEATHER STRIPPING"Desired Settlement: Replace thise window with the windows that they clamed in the contract.

Dear **. [redacted],
This letter is written to make you aware of what I consider unscrupulous sales practices and tactics of one of your salesman, **. [redacted]. **. [redacted] entered into a contract on behalf of See Thru Windows with my mother on 4/24/14 for over $13K for two “[redacted]” patio entry doors. Upon seeing the contract, I contacted **. [redacted] and informed him that notwithstanding the fact that my mother had no means to pay the balance on the order, she has dementia and was incapable of making major contract decisions. I told him that my mother would be cancelling the order. **. [redacted] said he spent two hours with my mother and did not get any indication that she had dementia, yet I later discovered that he had filled out the check for her deposit.
**. [redacted] insisted upon coming by to pick up the paperwork so a meeting was scheduled for 10am on Saturday, 4/26/14. Upon arrival, **. [redacted] was provided the contract with the Notice of Cancellation signed by my mother. With the signed Notice of cancellation in hand, he asked my mother on a number of occasions if she wanted the door—attempting to persuade her to go forward with the order. I again told **. [redacted] that my mother was on a fixed income and could not afford the doors, and that she had other priorities ahead of the door such as her dental needs, and that the doors are far too pricey for her neighborhood. **. [redacted] asked to see my power of attorney (POA) since I was making decisions for my mother. I was appalled and I told him that my mother signed her own name on the notice of cancellation so a POA was irrelevant. He then said he needed to witness her signature. Although I told him that I didn’t see anywhere on the paper where he had to witness her signature, I had my mother sign and date the Notice of Cancellation again, and asked him to leave.
I have several issues with this encounter that I hope that you will address:
1) **. [redacted] continued to pressure my mother into purchasing the doors after he was told a) she was not capable of making decisions such as these alone and b) she could not afford the doors;
2) **. [redacted]’s statement about having to witness her signature was not consistent with the contract that states, “to cancel this contract, mail or deliver a signed and dated copy of this cancellation notice or any other written notice, or send a telegram to: See-Thru Windows, LLC……
3) A co-owner of the home was unaware of this major purchase.
4) **. [redacted] wrote the check out for my mother, who was unable to do so herself, yet he claims he was unaware of her condition.
Clearly, **. [redacted] was more concerned about his commission than how your company would be paid its balance due. While I was able to intervene on my mother’s behalf within the 3 day cancellation period, what happens to those seniors who don’t have anyone to speak up for them and who are taken advantage of because a) they lack knowledge or b) are incapable of handling their own affairs? I trust after reading my letter that See-Thru Windows will take the necessary action to ensure that this situation does not happen again. By copy of this letter to the below listed Organizations, it is my hope that this matter will get the attention it needs and seniors, particularly those with impacted mental capacity, will be protected from aggressive salesman that seemingly prey on the elderly.
Sincerely,

Memo
to: Revdex.comDate: June 9, 2014From: [redacted], Marketing &
Public Relations Director See-Thru Windows, Inc. 2640 Crain Highway,
Waldorf, MD 20601Re: Review: ID# [redacted] Dear
**. [redacted], We
are in receipt of a complaint #[redacted] regarding a recent order placed by the
complainant’s mother for a [redacted]® Patio Door System. The complaint #[redacted] was sent
by the daughter of one of our valued customers. The complainant’s letter stated
-- in her opinion -- one of our team members had used what she considers “unscrupulous
sales practices and tactics”.We understand
that **. [redacted] has a concern. We wish that she would have taken a
moment to contact our management office/owner directly to share her comments
and to resolve any concerns she may have had regarding this transaction before submitting
a formal complaint to the Revdex.com, as well as the Alzheimer’s
Association National Office, and the Office of the Attorney General Consumer
Protection Agency. We would have
appreciated an opportunity to communicate effectively and assure her in person
that we were here to help her and her mother directly. At
See-Thru Windows & Doors, we offer high-quality, high-performance [redacted]
Doors that are made in America, offer a lifetime warranty, great strength for
security, and are custom-crafted for their individual homeowners needs. Our entire See-Thru Team is extremely proud
to provide homeowners -- of all ages -- with the very best products and
services for their home. During
our in-home visits, our Project Managers spend time with the homeowners to
discover exactly what they need to improve the safety, comfort and value of
their homes. We have spoken in depth with the team member mentioned, and have
provided his account of the experience to include the following:[On
4-24-14 I was dispatched to an appointment with [redacted]. [redacted]. As with all
home-appointments, my Marketing Department had stated that [redacted]. [redacted] and her
husband were the formal owners of her home. However upon confirmation, [redacted].
[redacted] had stated that her husband had passed away, and she was now the sole
property owner.During
my introduction, I asked [redacted]. [redacted] directly if she was the homeowner and the
only person to whom I should speak regarding decisions for new purchases for
her home. She informed me with confidence, that she was the decision maker and
solely responsible for the purchase of any improvements to her home.During
the visit, we spent over two hours together reviewing her needs and concerns
regarding her doors within her home. She stated that her doors were not energy-efficient,
and she even showed me where she had used expanding foam spray in an attempt to
fill in the gaps to stop the cold air and drafts that enter her home during the
winter. [redacted]. [redacted] also stated that she is always home alone and her doors
never locked properly, and that she always places a chair against the doorknob
to try and keep it secure, “in case someone tries to break in”. After review of her personal
needs and concerns, I presented her with the [redacted]® Patio Door System information and demonstration. Our beautiful [redacted] patio door system
features internal sliding steel plates and steel bolts that lock into the
threshold for security and added strength. [redacted]. [redacted] stated that she “loved
the doors” and thought they would be the best choice for her and her personal needs.
We discussed pricing and worked together for about fifteen minutes to negotiate
a price that she felt she was fair and affordable. As with any customer, I
offered her a budget plan with only 10% down. However, she said she wanted to
pay in cash and opted not to use the finance option. [redacted]. [redacted] further stated
that she would write a check for one-third down, and pay the remaining balance
upon completion of the project. We sat together while she
completed the paperwork, and then she wrote and handed me her personal check.
Upon review of the information, I noticed that she had written the check
incorrectly, and had in fact written an amount for more than agreed. I gave her
the check back and asked her if she could please correct the information. [redacted].
[redacted] was embarrassed, and then handed me her check book and asked me to write
the check amount correctly on her behalf. I complied with her request for
assistance, and then gave her back the check book for her review and approval.
She read the check, signed it, and gave it to me for submittal. We spent another fifteen
minutes together talking on her porch, and she shared how excited she was to
finally have her doors fixed and secure. The next day, I received a
call for [redacted]. [redacted] daughter [redacted], stating that she was cancelling her
mother’s order. She shared that she believed her mother had dementia and was
not capable of making any decisions.I am not a trained
Psychiatrist but, I certainly never saw any indication that [redacted]. [redacted] was not
of sound mind. I spoke with [redacted] and
shared that I found her mother to be a stable, thoughtful person who seemed to
me, that she knew what she wanted. However, her daughter insisted that her
mother was incompetent and should not be allowed to make any decisions on her
own. I then advised [redacted] that as her mother didn’t have access to a fax
machine a Manager would stop by to review the cancelation information and paperwork.
On the day scheduled, the Manager was on another appointment and not available.
As I was the original project manager of record, I was sent back to [redacted]. [redacted]
home.During my second visit, I
sat down with both [redacted]. [redacted] and her daughter to review the information. [redacted]
received a phone call and walked away from the table. I asked [redacted]. [redacted] what
happened, and she said she was so excited about her doors that she had
mentioned it to her daughter, and her daughter became upset that she had spent
money without her approval. [redacted]. [redacted] further stated that her daughter was overprotective
of her and did not like it when she spent any money, or tried to do anything on
her own. I asked [redacted]. [redacted] if her daughter had approval of all purchases she
made, and if she had power of attorney over her. She said no, he daughter did
not have power or attorney or approval over her. I stated that I would not do
anything that she did not want me to, as I was there for her best interests. I
asked her if she still wanted the sliding door system. She said yes, and then asked
that I help her. When [redacted]. [redacted] daughter,
[redacted] returned she was very domineering and spoke over her mother several
times. In fact, they argued in front of me and [redacted] was extremely upset with
her mother as she had actually made a decision to spend any money without her
approval. The daughter continued to argue with her mother and asked her where
the money would come from, [redacted]. [redacted] clearly stated for her not to worry, as
she had the money and she wanted the new door system to ensure her safety in
her own home.[redacted] then stated that it didn't matter as she had already cancelled the contract herself. I shared with
[redacted] that since she did not have power of attorney over her mother that her
cancellation was not valid, and only [redacted]. [redacted] could actually cancel the
document. I then asked [redacted]. [redacted] to sign the cancellation notice in front of
me -- and, only if she herself -- really
wanted to cancel the order. [redacted]. [redacted] hesitated, and then her daughter, [redacted]
stood up and walked over to her mother and said, “sign it. Right now, mom.”
And, she did.]See-Thru Windows & Doors
takes great pride in providing the very best quality and secure home
improvement products to homeowners who want and need them. In this case, the
homeowner who watched the demonstration and viewed the actual door samples
understood the quality of this [redacted]®
Patio Door System. Unfortunately, her daughter
refused to see the quality and based her decision on price alone.Further, per her complaint
submitted -- without even being present
for the demonstration – the daughter of the actual customer accused a team
member with a long history of excellence and an exemplary service record of “unscrupulous
sales practices and tactics.” We know this individual team member truly felt
that he was looking out for the customers’ best interest and worked to ensure
she was safe and secure. In closing, we realize in
today’s world “salesmen” have become the butt of terrible jokes and are often judged
unfavorably without cause. However home improvement sales is our business, and
we take our responsibility seriously. And, it is due to this overwhelming responsibility
that we appreciate **. [redacted] concerns. Therefore, we have updated our training
program to include information regarding the signs of dementia as listed within
the Alzheimer’s Association’s website. With the growing number of people
suffering from this disease, we will work to help our See-Thru team members
recognize a customer who may have a health situation that could compromise their
judgment or ability to communicate their needs effectively. The entire See-Thru team has
served our community and provided thousands of customers – of all ages and
ability’s – with exceptional products to help ensure they are comfortable and safe
in their homes. And, we’ll continue to do so for many years to come.
