Review: In June, 2010, I signed a 3 year contract with Security Service, Inc. In December, 2012, I moved and inquired about help moving my equipment to my new address since I still had 6 months left on the contract. I was told that moving the equipment was a free service they offered, and they put me in touch with a technician named Steve. When I was ready to have the equipment moved, I arranged the move directly with Steve and he performed the service for me. I was grateful for that, and I tipped him. Before he left, I signed what I assumed was a standard service order for work performed, and he was on his way. I was completely unaware that what I signed was another 3 year contract. It was not explained to me, and I just signed where he asked me to. Admittedly, I did not read it word-for-word (it does state on the form that it is a rider to the original agreement). I, like most people, do not read service or delivery orders in great detail when I sign them after work performed.
Apparently, when equipment is moved "for free" they start your contract over. So, Security Service Company changed my original contract from 3 years to 5 1/2 years without properly notifying me and asking my permission for the change. I'm now still paying on a service I no longer use and they have refused to release me from the extended contract I signed under false pretenses. They continue to bill me for monitoring my residence, and that is not a service they are currently providing to me.Desired Settlement: I have brought my account up to date, but request reimbursement of $214.58, which is the amount I have paid since I started disputing their questionable agreement practices. I am no longer using their service. I also request that they completely release me of the "new" contract I signed under false pretenses, which doesn't expire until December, 2015, and that in the future they are more truthful and forthcoming with their customers.
