I toured an apartment with two property managers. I asked what the move in costs were, they stated if I signed a lease to move in November 1, 2020; because of a special incentive they had running, I would only have to pay the $25 application fee and $1000 deposit, then I wouldn’t have to pay rent until December 1, 2020
After I signed the application, paid for the application and deposit, the property managers told me they weren’t honoring the incentive they previously stated and now will not refund my $1000 deposit. They never told me I wasn’t going to be part of the incentive they previously offered me until AFTER I paid for my deposit. This company has bad business practice and all renters should be aware of the fraudulent incentives they are offering potential renters, they don’t tell you that you won’t get the incentive until after you already pay your deposit.
Hello:
This email is in response to the complaint filed by ***.
We are offering 1 month free rent for 12 month leases. I have attached the flyer, which states this. The units we are renting are rent ready and available now. *** was given two options when she viewed the apartment. 1- to sign a lease dated the day she was approved and receive month of free rent, or 2 to sign a lease dated November 1 and not receive a free month's rent. This was made clear and at no point was she told that she would not be rent responsible until December. Our disclosure clearly outlines that once someone is approved for tenancy the deposit of $1000.00 is non-refundable.
We will refund the $1000.00 to ***, once we have verified that the funds have cleared the bank, as she stated today that she would place a fraud alert on her account to stop the payment. This was a payment generated by ***, not fraudulently.
