the same as any other lending institution, with the primary difference being
the use of collateral instead of creditWith Capital City Loan & Jewelry and
Western Loan & Jewelry, we hold and store personal collateral items until
the loan is repaidPawn loans are written for four months (days)At the
end of the loan period, the customer is required to repay the loan in full plus
the small amount of interest due, then the collateral is returnedIf the
customer cannot pay the loan in full, the option of paying only the interest
due and rewriting the loan for another four months (days) is availableIf
the customer does not repay the loan in full plus the interest due or rewrite
the loan by the due date (plus a day grace period), the collateral is forfeited
to the pawn brokerAll interest rates and terms of a loan are governed by the
State of California and cannot be changed or modified by the pawn broker
At the time of the pawn loan
all customers are asked to verify their information before they sign their contract. By the customers own admission, the wrong
address was recorded on their valid ID and was not corrected when asked to
verify that information. As unfortunate
as this may be, Western Loan & Jewelry would have no way of knowing a
corrected address without the customer informing us by correcting at the time
of the loan or coming in to the Western Loan & Jewelry location, informing
us in person of any address changes during the duration of the contract. As with all loans, a reminder letter was sent
out to the address we were provided. In
this case the item was then held beyond the date due by a month as the customer
states in their complaint, at which point no further contact had been made to
Western Loan & Jewelry by the customer to arrange payment or redeem the
item until months after the original due date and therefore the item was
unavailable as it had been forfeited
With the amount of time
that has passed, there is no possible way to return the original item to the
customer. However we would be happy to
assist this customer in purchasing a new pair of earrings at any one of our
locations and offer a 20% discount on the purchase

We prideourselves in providing excellent customer service and going above and beyond to help our customers...In regards to Ms. [redacted] complaint, we pride ourselves on the security and safety we provide all items that are placed in pawn at all 9 of our stores. We would never compromise the trust that is placed in us by our customers. When we take in a piece of jewelry for loan it is placed in a small plastic bag, a loan ticket is stapled to the plastic bag describing the item, the item is them placed in a secure safe and held for 120 days plus a 10 day grace period. The item in loan is never removed from the safe or the bag while it is in pawn.Ms. [redacted] had her item in loan from 10/06/2016 to 10/30/2016 and once the items was in pawn it did not leave the safe until it was redeemed by Ms. [redacted]. Ms. [redacted] did not bring up her concern to our staff until 1/8/2017, a little over 2 months after she had picked up her item from our Florin location. I can with 100% certainty state that her item was never touched or altered while in the possession of Capital City Loan and Jewelry from 10/06/2016 to 10/30/2016, and we would never do so.If I can help in any way going forward I would be glade to do so. Thanks to the contract image provided by the customer I have been able to do further research and found more information on the item in question. We at Western Loan & Jewelry take our customers personal loan and contract information very seriously and keep it confidential and are limited as to the information we can provide. We can say that the contract provided by Mr. [redacted] is an old contract as it would not have been valid at the time of this complaint and our records show it as redeemed and updated with a new contract. We can also say assuredly that there is no possible way that any item that is being claimed to “be worn” by our staff members would be owned by Mr. [redacted], as all items under contract are stored in our safe and are not touched until the customer retrieves them or fails to pay for them and we take legal possession of the item. And finally we can say most assuredly that Mr. [redacted] came in around the date he has made his claim, paid for and received all items on contract, and left wearing all of the contracted items including the item listed on his copy of the contract provided. All of this has been confirmed by interviewing involved staff members as well as verifying surveillance footage on this particular matter.
In the event Mr. [redacted] has lost the item elsewhere, we at Western Loan & Jewelry would love to assist in helping him locate and purchase a new one at any of our 9 locations and offer a 20% discount off the purchase price.
I am rejecting this response because: I have dealt with this Pawn Shop for many years paying interest to the go there and see the employee wearing my jewelry. Here is a copy if my ticket, they put it in there computer and I pay the interest. Thank you [redacted]

It is also always a possibility that an item may come in that has parts that may be going and may not be caught in our initial testing process for the item. As it seems may be the case with the item in question. We also take pride in our commitment to providing excellent and heroic customer service and have a desire to make our best attempt to correct any customer concern within reason. After communicating with the [redacted] at the location in question, it was determined that a phone call was received by the customer as stated and that the customer was encouraged to come in so an attempt could be made to correct the situation. It was also determined that neither the [redacted] or the [redacted] ever had face to face contact with the customer after the phone call was made and decided that maybe the customer had figured out the issue on her own.We would like to encourage the customer to contact the [redacted], [redacted], to further discuss helping in resolving the issue and scheduling a time for her to come in and speak with him in person.
