Salesperson said they offered a 90 lease that wouldn't hit my credit and it'd be 0%. My credit was run (he lied) then he said it'd actually be *-*%.
Salesperson said they offered a 90 lease through Sears that wouldn't hit my credit and it'd be 0% same as cash. So I said, so you're not going to run my credit? He replied no, not at all. I said, so my credit score will not get dinged. He replied, no, this isn't credit, this is a lease and not credit. I said, so this isn't a credit card or anything similar? He said no.
After all of that false assurance, I get an alert on my phone that my credit was run (very upsetting).
After all of that, he then went on to say, "as long as you pay it off in 30 days, it's the equivalent of *-*%, practically nothing."
So the salesperson lied about running my credit, and lied about the terms, 3) I was given no terms or agreement beforehand, 4) I want this guy personally reprimanded and want the business to show that if it providing false credit terms and deceiving their customers for personal gain (assume the salesperson gets some sort of kickback for pushing this on customers and is lying to get customers to sign up).
Description of the salesperson:
The salesperson, who I believe was the manager, was one of the only people in the building other than a couple warehouse guys. ***.
Purchase transaction details:
Date/Time: ***; 6:58 PM
Store/Address: Sear Outlet - ***, ***, ***, ***
Transaction Details from receipt: "INStore *** Workstation *** Lane Opr ***" "#***"
Credit monitoring details: My credit monitoring service that alerted me about this unauthorized (misleading) credit check said the following:
Company: ***
Alert Type: New Application
Category: Real Estate Rental
Very upset that I was lied to during this whole exchange.
I want this credit check to be pulled all three credit bureaus. I want an additional discount on this purchase for the time needed to issue a report and the hassle this caused with my credit score and my credit monitoring service.
I contacted Mr. and we determined the lease application did not effect his credit. The notification was from *** alerting him that someone had used his Social Security number. I have also coached the sales associate to insure that we are very clear on the fees that are involved with a lease.
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
*** from Sears Outlet called a couple times this week and talked through the situation. She was apologetic with regard to how the salesperson implied an interest rate that was not accurate and with regard to how the lease option was communicated and handled properly. She noted that she trained the employee on how to handle this in the future.
*** also was patient while I was able to login to Experian and check the credit alert history and it did not appear that Experian showed this as a bad mark on my credit (which was truly my main concern).
I appreciate *** time and effort to resolve the issue and provide me with some comfort regarding this situation. As long this Sears Outlet doesn't do this to future customers (implying zero percent interest initially and then telling the whole story later), then I'm content with how they resolved the situation.
