July 25, size="3"> [redacted] Revdex.com North Wabash Ave., Ste# Chicago, IL Re: [redacted] Dear [redacted] We have completed the investigation of Ms [redacted] complaint regarding her dissatisfaction with the multiple repair attempts on her refrigerator We have received Ms [redacted] complaint and reviewed her service history Unfortunately, we do have times where the repair that was completed does not resolve all of the issues that might have been present This is usually not discovered until the customer has a chance to let the item run for awhile Regrettably, we do have to balance the amount of time spent at one location versus the other customers who have also been scheduled for service and this means that it is not always possible for our technicians to spend an extended amount of time at one location We understand that this can be frustrating when a customer has a situation like Ms [redacted] , and we are pursuing solutions that will provide better options for our customers when these issues occur We would like to note that Ms [redacted] refrigerator was purchased on 9/03/and the return period for this unit has passed since it is over days from the date of purchase As for repair, the refrigerator was originally repaired on 6/20/where the main PCB board and capacitor were replaced The refrigerator was again repaired on 6/30/where the compressor and drier assembly were replaced The final repair was done on 7/09/and no parts were replaced All repairs were done under warranty We would like to further note that Ms [redacted] and her husband went to the local store on July 1, and asked to speak with a manager They discussed their concerns with their refrigerator but were told that because it was outside of the return period, it would need to be repaired under the manufacturer’s warranty At this point Mrand Mrs [redacted] became upset and shouted obscenities and telling other customers to leave the store and shop elsewhere The police were called to assist with the situation and Mr [redacted] dropped off the refrigerator in the middle of the men’s department before leaving The refrigerator has since been picked upon July 6, without incidence That being said, because we have addressed Ms [redacted] complaint, we respectfully request this complaint be closed We apologize to Ms [redacted] and appreciate the opportunity to address this matter Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns Sincerely, [redacted] Regulatory Complaints Specialist [redacted]
December 19, [redacted] 12pt;">Revdex.com North Wabash Ave., Ste#Chicago, IL Re: [redacted] Dear Ms [redacted] We have completed our investigation of Mr [redacted] complaint regarding his dryer It is unfortunate that we failed Mr [redacted] expectations when he recently contacted Sears Home Services to repair his dryerWe value Mr [redacted] patronage, but we can understand how the series of events noted within his complaint may have exacerbated his frustrations We do not take these matters lightly and we sincerely regret any inconvenience we may have caused Mr [redacted] Upon receiving Mr [redacted] complaint, we reviewed the notes in our service system regarding his dryer repair Mr [redacted] called for service on December 5, 2016, and a Sears technician examined the dryer on December 12, 2016, and he subsequently ordered a motor and heater assembly The local service unit confirmed that the technician returned to Mr [redacted] home on December 19, 2016, to install the parts and complete the repair While we understand that Mr [redacted] requested a replacement, the manufacturer’s warranty provides for the repair of the dryerA replacement would only be granted if it was determined that the dryer could not be repaired or there have been an excessive number of repairs during the warranty period In Mr [redacted] case, the dryer was repairable and this was the first repair, so a replacement was not offered With that said, since we have completed the repair to Mr [redacted] dryer, albeit later than expected, and we have documented his concerns with the repair process, we ask that this matter be closed Again, we apologize to Mr [redacted] and we appreciate the opportunity to address this matter Sincerely, [redacted] Regulatory Complaints Specialist

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: We are missing in their response that they replaced the ice maker on December 24th as well which failed as the technician at my house and me knew it would because the ice tray leans and can't be made to not lean Then the second new ice maker was installed on January 9th which that technician also said he couldn't stop the ice tray from leaning No water valve was replaced then and never has been They took that part back with them as it's not the problem Please note I was informed by Sears Protection Benefits on March 5th right after the technician left that I had only had "product failure" and had to have "product failures" before they would replace the fridge even though the part is a manufacturer default and unrepairable Service technicians that have been out have admitted it cannot be fixed but cannot make the call that it is unfixable That call needs to be made by someone at a phone center that hasn't even seen my fridge or the problem If what is promised eventually occurs then I will consider the case resolved but as of right now nothing is resolved and what I am being told here is not confirmed by their Protection Agreement Benefits department If I can get a confirmation email from Sears Protection Benefits directly explaining and confirming that after the new ice maker is installed on March 19th for the third time if it continues to leaks in the days immediately after (which it will) then after a final visit and confirmation of this that I can receive a new refrigerator to replace this one I do not consider it resolved honestly until it is resolved with a replacement as it cannot be fixed but I will accept and let close out the complaint if I can get verification in writing from the company and the Protection Agreements Benefits line can verify and confirm this This is more than reasonable given the frustration and missed work I have had to go through My email is [redacted] Thank you Sincerely, [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: “Your technician will provide you with a detailed estimate for the cost of repairsThere will be no charge for this estimate if you proceed with the repair If you choose not to have your repaired, you will be charged a non-refundable fee of $96.00.” What they told me as stated above enforce my understanding of the refundI even asked the technician if the amount was going to be refunded and he said it should If you analyzed it, it contradicts itself what Ms [redacted] indicates When you call for service they clearly indicate that they’ll charge you for the diagnostic They don’t go to your house for freeThat is why I accepted their terms of the verbal contract and now Sears is not willing to accept their own terms that they offered Let me put it more clear, when you go to an auto dealer with a car problem they charge you for the diagnostic and if you decide to have the service done their diagnostic fee will be applicable to parts and labor They don’t diagnostic for free as it cost them to do the service Cannot accept this deceiving practice they are performing and want my refund as part of the verbal contract Sincerely, [redacted]

[redacted] Revdex.com North Wabash Ave., Ste#Chicago, IL Re: [redacted] class="InsideAddress"> Dear Ms [redacted] We have completed our investigation of Ms [redacted] complaint regarding Her front load washer We apologize that Ms [redacted] washer failed to meet her expectations of longevity The reality exists that no matter how high the quality is on the items we sell, the potential always exists for a product to fail We also understand how frustrating this can be to a consumer, especially after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired and covered repairs are not an option It is for this reason that Sears, and most other retailers, offer some sort of extended warranty coverage In the past, it could be argued that this was not always a wise purchase, since many retailers would make frequent exceptions to their return and exchange policies in an effort to satisfy their customers Unfortunately, due to the rampant abuse of these courtesies, most retailers had to abstain from these practices many years ago It is always the customer’s choice on whether they would like the peace of mind that would come with having an extended warranty; much like deciding whether to have insurance on personal property The benefits have to be weighed against the costs, with the understanding that if it is not purchased, the consumer would then have to bear the consequences of that decision In Ms [redacted] case she purchased her refrigerator on December 1, 2008, and the full manufacture warranty expired a year later on December 1, We show no record of service done on this washer by SearsTo expect Sears to bear the repair expense associated with a product that is so far out of warranty (a couple of days or weeks might justify some consideration of extenuation) is unrealistic and inappropriate It would be unjust for Sears to provide free service to Ms [redacted] while charging others for such service through Sears Protection Agreement fulfillment or direct charges for repairsUnder the circumstances, we are willing to have a technician come out to the house to diagnose the unit at no cost to Ms [redacted] it should be noted that the offer of a service call at no charge is more than other companies would offer, and one on which we will standMs [redacted] need only contact me directly a [redacted] or via email at [redacted] and I will set up the diagnostic service call at no chargeIt will then be up to Ms [redacted] to decide if she wants Sears to complete whatever repairs are found to be necessary with the understanding that the cost of the repairs will be her responsibilityIn the interim, since we have proposed an equitable resolution commensurate to the circumstances, we have closed our file We apologize to Ms [redacted] on behalf of Sears Holdings Corporation and we appreciate the opportunity to address this matter Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns Sincerely, [redacted] Regulatory Complaint Specialist Sears Holdings Corporation [redacted]
