Review: I asked company for a specific search for a number that had been harassing me viz text using a fake number. I asked if possible to knock that fake number and get me the actual carrier, billing and owner of phone information. I was reassured that I can get the information I was looking for. After I already paid $47 for a search I was told they can do for that price, I was then told I have to pay an additional $50 in order to seek the proper information. I once again, stated the situation and stressed to the company what exactly im looking for from this company and once again I was reassured I would get what I asked for. So again, I paid another $50 for information I was guaranteed. That's a total of $94. then I get a report with supposedly accurate information. It was all wrong, Then I stated that they were wrong and now all of a sudden they researched the tel number in question and other information came up, as supposedly accurate again. I called the carrier that search bug claimed it was, the carrier stated that they sell those numbers and no longer belong to them but to other companies such as Skype, Pinger etc. Which are apps people use to obtain fake number or what have you. This is what I asked search bug to do, ARE YOU ABLE TO GET THROUGH THAT AND GET ME THE ACTUAL PERSON AND BILLING ADDRESS OF THIS PERSON BEHIND THE HARASSING TEXT. I DID NOT get that answer. They refused to refund my money unless I had proof on whom the number really belongs to by another investigator. I think NOT. They need to refund me all my my money and not do this to others.Desired Settlement: Full refund!!

Our support team has complied the attached document showing all the conversations between our office and the customer. We of course want satisfied clients but it seems the facts may not line up with beliefs in this case. There is no way to dispute the facts of the investigators findings. Certainly not based on beliefs and perceptions. Believes and Perceptions are not always reality and the facts on this case are evident based on the investigators findings. We certainly wish the information matched what the customer thinks it should be, but that is why it is an investigation. We hope the information is useful, but we are simply the facilitators between the customers information and the facts the investigators find. Not everyone likes the facts. Unfortunately, when reality contradicts our own believes and perceptions, sometimes we chose to ignore or deny it.
Review: I requested that my personal information - much of which is inaccurate - be removed from their website. Searchbug.com attempts to charge consumers to have their own sensitive information removed from the internet.Desired Settlement: I request that my information be promptly removed, as requested. I also request that they make sound efforts to keep my information from repopulat[redacted] on their site and affiliated sites.

Response:
First of all I'd
like to point out that [redacted] filed a
complaint about [redacted] or Collection Issues but she is not even a customer of ours.
We have no record of any transaction from this person so the complaint cannot
be for Billing or Collection Issues since they have never purchased anything from us and we have never sent them a bill nor have we sent them a collection
notice.
We have no
outstanding billing or collections issue, nor do we have any records of this
person doing business with us what so ever.
As far as the
description of her complaint about trying to remove her information from the internet,
we have no record of her call[redacted] into our offices and our opt-out procedure is
clearly posted on the web site.
It's unfortunate
that Ms. [redacted] is able to file a complaint about a company without any merit
which goes on their Revdex.com record for 3 years without any just cause. Anyone can
get public information simply by visiting any other public records information
provider or by visiting a local county office and requesting them.
SearchBug has an
Opt-out policy (which is not required by law) posted by visiting http://www.searchbug.com/comments.aspx and then
clicking on the "Personal Listing" option.
We are not
required by any laws to offer a way to remove people from the internet (which is impossible). However,
we do offer a way to block information from showing up on our website as a
courtesy to the public. We must therefore charge a fee to offset the
administrative fees should someone not want to follow the online instructions
to utilize the free removal process.
The
administrative costs of blocking someone's information from showing up in the
public record results on searchbug.com vary based on the number of records,
however we offer a flat fee.
Note that
searchbug does not own the data in public records that shows up on the internet.
We have no control over the data and hence can only block certain aspects from
showing up on our results pages. Blocking this information takes effort, time
and resources and we charge a fee to recoup these administrative expenses.
Our data comes
from many sources which are of public record stemming from the FCRA - http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/031224fcra.pdf
Further
information that answers many of the questions people have about public records
and opt[redacted] out can be found here: http://www.privacyrights.org/ar/infobrokers.htm

of online data brokers that sell similar information - http://www.privacyrights.org/online-information-brokers-list
If you're
concern is more about Identity Theft we suggest reading the FTC.Gov pages found
here: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/idtheft//consumers/about-identity-theft.ht...⇄ />
If there are several
records on searchbug.com that match the name provided we don't know which one
to block. If [redacted] was to send a screenshot of the exact record to be blocked
we would offer a one-time courtesy to do that at no charge.
Review: I've written searchbug twice. This is my 2nd message to their customer service department:
2-20-15
This is the 2nd time I've asked you to remove the $5.97 charge from my credit card for the 1-day pass because your "service" is useless to me. It did not find the name of the owner of one number I was looking for. I then put in my own phone number and it came up with a name of someone I don't know - it was wrong again. Customer service said the search goes back as far as 15 years - I've owned my own number about that long so I have a hard time believing that is the case.
I respectfully ask once again that you REFUND MY MONEY.
In addition, I ask that you delete ALL my contact information from your website, do not share it with anyone and do not attempt to charge me for anything else from this point forward.Desired Settlement: My refund AND more truth in their advertising in terms of delivering what I believe is their INABILITY TO DELIVER the information they claim to be able to deliver - I searched only two phone numbers (one of which was my own) both searches were wrong and wrong again!
