Review: In November 2012 we commissioned Seal N' Stripe to tear up our old driveway and put a new one down. The work was done in a timely manner and when they were complete we were satisfied with the job. It was only after the first heavy downpour that we realized there were quite a few areas on the driveway that were pooling, including a 3ft wide, 1-2 inch deep section directly in front of our garage door. The edge lines of the driveway are also very wavey and unsightly. We contacted Seal N' Stripe and after talking with them they told us to wait until the spring when they could do any work needed. When Spring came we attempted to contact Seal N' Stripe again, after several weeks they finally got back to us and [redacted], the owner, came out and told us that they had a patch type treatment we could try for the pooling areas and that the blacktop was just settling. He also said that the edges were that way b/c it had to be done by hand, either way it doesn't look like care was taken. He returned later that day and we discussed possible avenues that could be taken to fix the problem. It was at this point he told us nothing could be done. I find this unacceptable that a business will not fix the problem with their work. My wife then suggested the possibility of taking out the "speed bump" they had put in in front of the garage door so that the water could at least run into the garage and not pool in the front making it difficult to get in the garage without jumping. [redacted] agreed that this could be a possible solution. He left the patch treatment for me to do and never checked back in with us like he said he would. This was around May. I called Seal N' Stripe several weeks ago to talk to someone and left a message and have yet to receive a phone call back. I also emailed [redacted] and [redacted] on Tuesday to tell them that we would like to speak to them and to contact us about removing the "speed bump" and have heard nothing. We are coming up on a year with no resolution and we are quite frustrated.Desired Settlement: I need someone to contact me by Aug 23 to have this issue resolved once and for all. I am beginning to question the quality of work and customer service that Seal N' Stripe provides. If I do not hear from anyone about a resolution by then I will need to take further action.

Response:
We
received your letter dated August 9, 2013 on August 15, 2013.
Before
we started work on the driveway, I told the owner that the driveway was too
small to use a paving machine. Therefore, the driveway would have to be paved
by hand which means that it would not have a super-smooth finish to it and that
the edges would not be perfectly straight like when using a paving machine.
After
paving the driveway, we installed a small curb to deflect run-off from the
garage due to the natural
drainage because the garage floor was installed too low in relation to the
surrounding property.
I will remove the curb from
in front of the garage door for the owner and that is all I can do. No one ever
knows how the earth will settle, for there are hard spots adjacent to soft
spots in the earth with soft spots settling first. We do not know how the
driveway was used after we left the site.
I did
not receive the last email from the owner for some unknown reason,
I
have retired from construction due to my age.
Sincerely,
Consumer
