Review: Applied online at sdkridgewood for a 1 bd apartment. I did carefully check to see what the application criteria was, and it did not clearly state nor list an automatic denial of a negative background check. I applied, and [redacted] called and continued to ask me questions then stated they would not be able to approve my application for a rental. [redacted] his manager whom I have emailed states they automatically deny negative background results. Well, that information is pretty important and crucial, when applicants are spending $100 per couple trying to find housing, and then get discriminated against because of their race and with a negative background check. I am pretty certain, having been a long time resident of Ridgewood, and affluent White Caucasian Upper Class community, that being a minority led to a discriminatory decision, whereas a white applicant would have been accepted.Desired Settlement: All I am asking is a simple $100 refund of the $600 I paid, which they claim to have sent me a $500 check back. $100 that should have never been accepted or charged, had they clearly and concisely advertised and commit to their practice of fair housing without discrimination of minorities. Secondly, change or update the website to clearly reflect the criteria before anyone has a chance to inadvertently pay and for [redacted] not to return their money.
