About eight years ago I had this company totally replace an arbor covered deck and also build a brand new arbor over my patio Obviously, they were supposed to have used exterior treated lumber for the entire project But last summer I began to notice rotting issues (black rot) with some of the wood pieces in the arbor over my deck I purchased new treated lumber and began process of replacing them myself During that process I discovered that many of the x 2's I was replacing could NOT have been treated to begin with because they were almost 100% rotted But the same piece right next to it might be just fine without any rot whatsoever I also discovered that I had rotting issues going on throughout other areas of the arbor portion of my deck I purchased a dozen eight foot x for the initial replacement job, but upon further observation I have at least that many more to replace again this summer and maybe even some of the x 6's It is obvious this company did not honor their part of the original agreement by using only treated lumber on my deck I suppose it is possible they could have been given inferior product by their supplier at the time, Menard's Lumber But even more amazing! Some of this wood is almost 100% rotted through in spite of the fact this deck received two coats of exterior stain within a year after it was built So it seems pretty obvious this company mixed some non-treated pine lumber into my deck project, and now I am suspicious of the entire project So consumer beware!
