Incomplete work and taking funds from the consumer under false pretensesI entered into a contract with this company on 02-18-2015. I made three seperate payments, by check, of $5000 each. I understood that this money would be used to pay for materials and the workers that he hired to complete the work. The work was not completed as the contract states and the carpenter was not paid for all of the work he did. In addition, he would not return phone calls or answer text messages. He did complete a 20'x20' deck which looks nice but that is the only thing he completed out of eight items that were specified. We have paid the carpenter out of our pocket for the amount he was not paid and are paying him for completing the work. The contract itself is only signed by the contractor and has not invoice number.Desired SettlementI would like to ask that we be refunded for $10,000 of the $15,000 paid to this contractor unless he can show an itemized list of how much he spent on materials and labor. If he can show us, then we will subtract that amount from the $15,000 to be refunded to us. The amount of work completed by him, with materials, might equal $5000.
