Review: I contracted with Scott to build a mantle for my fireplace. My neighbor found him on [redacted] and he did do some work for him. So he recommended him to me. [redacted] came over, measured the mantel, wrote out a contract that we both signed for the job to be completed in two weeks. He asked for $250 which I gave him.
I have never seen him again. It's been six months. Many emails have been sent. He responds with apologies, telling me he'll refund my money. One email he asked for my address. Another he said he'd have the money in a week. The phone number I have doesn't seem to answer. He seemed like a decent guy when I met him but obviously he can't be trusted. I paid for services rendered and none were. I want my money back.Desired Settlement: I want my money back.
Review: I paid [redacted] $360 to replace a broken sliding closet door in my bedroom. He failed to install the sliding door, citing that the wrong sized door had been delivered. He stated the appropriate doors should arrive by the weekend of June [redacted]. I have tried multiple times to get in touch with him by phone, text message, and e-mail, but he has not responded to my calls since June **.Desired Settlement: I believe the business should either complete the job by this weekend (Saturday, July **) or reimburse me for the $360 I paid for the services.

Review: I contracted with Scott Hart to reconfigure two closets in my apartment, which included light construction, rehanging new doors and installing custom wood shelving and hardware. I paid him $3,000 per our contract agreement, plus an additional $275 for what he said was extra work for complications. He completed one closet (hung the hardware crooked) and did not complete the second, despite being paid in full.
The second, more complicated closet project, which he estimated would take 3 weeks at most, has stretched out for more than two months. During much of this time, Scott was absent for days without returning phone calls, text messages or emails. When he did show up, he was hours--sometimes half a day late. He asked that I pay him up front for the labor and materials, which I did. In addition, he asked for cash to pay for other materials that should have been included in the price (hinges, paint remover). When I asked him to provide receipts for the materials, he gave me fabricated receipts charging me excessive markups (i.e. $50 for a $10 quart of paint remover).
In late February, he disappeared and did not return to install the shelves that I had paid for. When he did return an email or text, he would promise to return on a date to finsih, and then he never did. This happened numerous times over the course of three weeks. Finally, I had to personally track him down to his apartment and demand my materials. He delivered materials that are warped and unusable.
I am still out the cost of materials, a portion of the labor, and other cash that I advanced him. Only when I reported him to the police did he offer to return to finish the installation, but by this time, not only did I not want him in my apartment because lack of trust and character, my building super said he could not return to work here because of the other resident complaints about his work in the common area.Desired Settlement: I want a fair rebate on the labor for the job he failed to complete and the materials for which I paid $1,100 and did not receive in full or in good condition.
Hello! I have been trying to take this individual to the small claims court and I too had the exact same experience as all of what is listed from all the people on here. I would love to get his physical address as the PO box will not hold up in small claims court. Do you have any advice and or address you can share? Thank you so much for your time.
