our phone conversation and 2 phone convos (6/29 and 6/30) to the dentist in question: on 6/30, I rec'd NOT my actual x-rays as requested- WHICH ARE MY PROPERTY- but again, [redacted] COPIES of!I called the today, asked them what they did not understand about my Saturday request, (and they said nothing).... How much more clear I can be?... (They said nothing)... I used a curse word once (for the first time) and asked in no uncertain terms that I want my ACTUAL x-rays STAT saying, 'you better!'At this point, not only turning me away from care, but denying me my rightful property (my x-rays), only makes me believe further that I was denied care for wholly unethical reasons. I am rejecting this response because:Dentist's response: "At check out, she was asked by my receptionist if she wanted to take her 3 year old original x-rays with her, and she declined. She called the office 5 days later..." This is a blatant lie. It took 4 phone calls and 5 days to receive my original x-rays after being given only [redacted] copies and denied care, and despite my willingness to pay for the filling of what is, in fact, a 'gaping cavity' behind my front incisor- two noticeable pieces of which fell out while brushing, resulting in a tenuous, diagonal crack and loss of integral strength that lends to breaking off and requiring more serious restoration! Now that I have my x-rays, I have no desire to see this dentist again and would not recommend him to anyone. I stand by my initial claim that, due to my financial situation, this dentist was unwilling to help me repair this critical tooth, early on, with likely other motivations, i.e. an inability to bill a dental plan.PS: On 7/19, I had a bad feeling that my tooth was going to finally break off- which it did- as you can see in these pictures taken same-day (7/19 before and after). Fortunately, I was able to finally be seen elsewhere on an emergency basis, because another dentist understood that having to interview for work looking like a 'neglectful hillbilly,' simply due to lack of money, qualifies as an emergency! There were additional cracks in the tooth that could've led to even further breaking, if I hadn't been so fortunate to be finally be seen by another dentist.[redacted]
To whom it may Concern:I was a little surprised to receive this complaint, as we have always treated the patient kindly, with respect, and at a discount(No emergency exam fee charged on this visit, nor on her previous visit in 2014). Her main complaint is that she wanted her original x-rays instead of copies. At check out, she was asked by my receptionist if she wanted to take her 3 year old original x-rays with her, and she declined. She called the office 5 days later, cursing and demanding her original x-rays. My receptionist told her she would mail original x-rays that day. My receptionist also reported that patient responded, “If I have to come down there, I won’t be coming alone.” Most dental offices take up to a week to copy and mail x-rays with a fee charged. She has been given all her original [redacted] x-rays from 3 years ago, as well as the original single x-ray we took on June 25, 2016. Problem resolved. Her second complaint is that she was not allowed to be treated and pay later. Her dental needs are extensive and my best advice was that she seek comprehensive care at a free dental clinic, such as [redacted] or [redacted]. Referral and contact information were given to patient before she left our office. Occasionally, we will allow a patient with strong record of following our recommendations, regular visits, and one whom pays balances to make arrangements for a payment plan. This patient does not come in for her regular, bi-annual dental check-ups, but only saw us twice in the last 6 years, and only for emergencies. Also, this patient does not follow my professional recommendations. In regards to said tooth, a cavity was diagnosed and she was advised to treat this tooth 6 years ago, on November 3, 2010, along with most of the other current untreated cavities. This patient made it very clear that she has no means of paying on her account in the foreseeable future. A payment plan is a courtesy, not a right. No one can walk into Longs, or any establishment and tell them you will pay them later. The tooth in question was NOT an emergency. Patient stated there was no pain. I did not find the tooth to have any infection or swelling present. The chip in the tooth was barely noticeable from 2 feet away, but according to the patient, it was a, “Gaping hole.”Despite the patient’s unwarranted attacks on my character, I wish this patient the best. I have decided to withdraw from any future care as of June 25, 2016. The proper referrals and contact information have been given to her. I also strongly advised that she contact these agencies to proceed with the proper care.
