We noticed rotting of the inside wood frame to our deck door this winter in our home, which was newly built 10 years ago. We contacted the company that installed the door and their only response was that the door was out of warranty and they refused to investigate or repair the problem. After contacting a separate company, they determined that the problem is not the door itself, but rather the installation of the door was not done properly. The Scherer Brothers company failed to properly insulate the door upon its installation, which is causing condensation and thus rotting of the wood. It will now cost us approximately $500 to fix this issue secondary to unprofessional work and the company's only response is that the door itself is out of warranty.

We spoke to the property owner *** today. We supplied material only to the project in question, no installation labor. Referred them back to their Builder for additional assistance.
Scherer Bros and its installer made multiple errors on our project and ultimately overcharged us for products and services rendered. When we attempted to resolve these issues with them neither party would assume any liability for the problems they created. Ultimately we were threatened with collections enforcement and liens to induce payment. We have continued to try and have dialogue with Schere Bros but just get the run around.
Scherer Bros. installed windows last May 2018. There were no errors. The job was sold as an insert job, but upon opening up the wall cavity, there was so much rot, the installer had to build new frames, and it became a full replacement window project. There was a change order signed April 2, 2018 "Creating Full Frame Windows form inserts due to mold inside jamb liners. Cost of Material and Labor" for $4823. Signed by David ***. See attached document. On Thursday April 5th, David *** sent our operations manager, Derek ***, an email "Derek, I just got off the phone with Enerbank and they approved the change order amount for $4823. We should be set". We were paid in full at the end of the job by Enerbank, who financed the entire project. There were no threats to place a lien, no collections agency. We had no problems with payment. The customer signed the Enerbank paperwork, which is required, for us to be paid. They did this on a timely basis. There was additional work done by the installer on the side due to additional rot not around the windows. Scherer Bros. was not involved with that project as it did not involve the window area we were contracted to perform on.
At this time, we decline further work with the customer. There are two other Infinity dealers in the Minneapolis St. Paul Metro area who could supply product and labor and would better suit their needs at this time.
