August 13, In response to this complaint, we regret that the customer had such a bad experienceWe are sorry that he needed to take extra time off to supervise our workYes, our crew should have come prepared with materials and tools. In our defense, it is highly unusual that a customer takes an entire day off to oversee the job that he has entrusted us to doAs with many jobs, when the customer stands watching, the employed works, there is added pressure on the workers, leading to a higher incidence of mistakes and slower rate of completion. As to the customer taking off the second day, again this is highly unusualMost customers would initially show our estimator where the fence would goThey would review details when the installation crew came, and then leave for work.Further more it needs to be pointed out that we have been in business since the 1960's and apparently the Revdex.com has not received previous complaints since they did not have us registered.May and June when we did this installation are especially hectic months so sometimes jobs don't go as smoothly as we would likeWe are sorry for the way this job progressed and apologizeIn the interest of keeping a civil relationship, we will refund the customer $500.00Sincerely,Jay L [redacted] for Landis Fence Co

Review: I contracted [redacted] Fence to install 100' of fence on my property. Upon arrival I discover that they sub-contracted the job to another company (a landscape service). The subcontractor proceeded to back the vehicle into my bushes and all over my grass as well as my neighbor's grass. I had to stop him and suggest to take the trailer off in order to get the truck into my driveway. The subcontractor began the installation and realized that he was missing tools (needed to start the job) from his work truck. Since I decided to take the day off to oversee this one-day job, in order to get the job going I lent them my chainsaw, rake and wheelbarrow. The apprentice did not know how to install the fence and the installer was struggling with setting the first few sections. Again, in order to get the job started I helped level the first few sections with them. As the began to fill the holes, I noticed they were not using concrete....I asked where the concrete was (as this is the way the job was sold to me) and they replied that there was no concrete on the truck. Again, in order to expedite the installation, I loaned them some concrete I had in my garage. In the meantime, they called the facility and concrete was brought down. The gentleman who brought the concrete down (original sales person) examined the holes and told me I did not need concrete, due to my soil content. I was a little taken back by the comment as he sold me the job with concrete and a separate person did the actual site evaluation and estimate. With the fence being down, I needed to walk my dog with a leash throughout the day. At approximatley 3:45, the instllation crew began packing up their equipment. They were 3 sections away from finishing (holes already dug). I asked why they were leaving so early and why they couldnt finish. They claimed that they needed to have their equipment back to the yard by a certain time and the yard people did not like waiting for a late truck. They promised me they would be back between 8-8:30am the following morning to finish. They also asked me if they could store the remaining concrete in my garage (pending weather), I agreed. After this bit of news and the sequence of events on the first day, I called into my work and requested a half-day to oversee the balance of the installation. The follwing day I waited until 9:30am to call [redacted] fence. They transferred me to their scheduler, who informed me that the crew working on my job would not be there until 4:00pm. I explained that they promised me they would finish up in the AM and asked how they would manage to get the concrete from my garage after I left for work. I then proceeded to unload 400 lbs of concrete into the driveway for their PM install. I received a call at 3pm from the sub-contractor that he would not be able to finish the job this afternoon (his apprentice had left early). I pleaded with the installer to come and finish up as I had my children coming home and would be letting the dog out assuming the fence was finished. He said he would be there (day 3) first thing on Wednesday and finish the job. Upon arriving at home they left my wheelbarrow full of dirt int the middle of my lawn and left me with 2 hours of cleanup on my side of the fence. I am not questioning the qualtiy of product...I have used their products (DIY) for 7 years. I am not satisfied with the installation process at all. If I elected to not be home this job would have taken even longer. Lastly, my neighbor came out and asked if the subcontractor would provide an estimate on approximatley 1000' of fence, which hthe installer did not follow up on.Desired Settlement: I recieved the invoice for the material and installation immediatley after the job was finished. Due to my dissatisfaction, I wanted to spak with the owner to let him know I was a loyal customer of 7 years and that subconctracting out should have been specified and that the experience was terrible. I made mention that it cost me a half-day of my own work due to the delay and that I loaned them a majority of the tools they needed to get as far as they did that day. I was surprised by the owners reaction " sometimes these jobs dont always work out" and offered me a half-hearted apology. I have had time to think about this and based on the $$ I invested and the lost time of my own. I am asking for a minimum of a $500 adjustment to my invoice. If the owner would have offered anything when I spoke with him, I would have settled. At this point I am not satisfied and would like an adjustment.
