We received a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse from Alerton police after a DWI arrest. We towed the car into the yard around 6:45AM on 3/30/17. The car was stored. The tow price was $175 and each day of storage was $50. At around 10:45am on 3/30/17 Mr. [redacted] came to the tow yard, climbed the fence and...
entered the vehicle. He took out wire cutters he cut the fence just wide enough to get the car out drove the car out of the fence and drove the vehicle to his job. This was caught on video surveillance. A stolen vehicle report was made and the city in which his job was located contacted Alerton police with the vehicles whereabouts. We went to the vehicle's location retrieved the vehicle and Mr. [redacted] was arrested. The car was towed back to impound. This was another $175 for towing and an additional 26 miles at $3 per mile added to the bill, and $50 per day storage. This is when we began receiving phone calls from Mr. [redacted]. We advised him he could come get the car but needed to provide proof of ownership to us and Alerton police and he was unable to obtain that. We found out later that the title had never been transferred out of the original owners name.
