Review: In August of 2012 I placed a put a jacket on consignment with Savidusky's for $695.00. I went back in and ckeck on it a few time and was told it was a nice jacket it should sell just give it time. When I heard about Savidusky's going out of business I went in to pick up my jacket and was told it was sent to IN and that the company would send me aconsignment agreement. After a few months I never recieved an afreement so I called and talked to Julie she told me the company in IN did not want my jacket and sent it back to Saviduskey's, I offered to come pick it up however she could not find it. She would call me back. Nobody called me back. I called back about a week later and talked to Julie again and this time she told me that somebody was intrested in buying my jacket but because of a rip in the armpit it was beinging repaired the person would be back to look at it before after the repair. I stated the jacekt didn't have a rip when I dropped it off and Julie blew me off and said hopefully it sells call back in a week. I've been calling every week since and emailing and nobody returns my calls and the emails get returned to my inbox. The jacket was like new when I dropped it off so I'm really angry it was destroyed while on consigment.Desired Settlement: $695.00

I am writing in response to your letter dated 05/19/2014 regarding a complaint about our business from [redacted].
Review: This fur business has been in the Madison area since 1940. In May 2001 I had a fur coat appraised by Savidusky's to be $2,000 in value for insurance purposes. On August 25, 2011, I entered into a consignment agreement with Savidusky's furs to sell my coat @ $795 with 60% of that fee to be paid to me. I called and spoke with [redacted] Savidusky about 1 year later (I did not note the date) to check the status of sale of my coat because Julie had originally told me they would contact me when the coat sold. When I spoke with her in the autumn of 2012, she stated that the coat was still in their shop and that I should give it another season and most likely it would see since it was a "sassy coat" in her words. So I agreed. When I learned recently that they were going out of business, I called Julie and asked for my coat back if it had not sold. She said she did not see it "on the floor" but she would check in the vault when she had a chance and get back to me. That first call was 10/9/2013. I did not hear from her, so I called back on 10/11/13, and again [redacted] said she has been so busy, but would call me back when she got to check around some more. In the evening, I visited the fur store along with my husband as a witness. [redacted] Savidusky checked for the coat, but could not find it. He said they had probably shipped to Day Furs in Indiana for sale. I had not authorized such a move nor was I contacted and told that could even happen. My knowledge was that the coat would stay in their Madison, Wisconsin shop. I have contact [redacted] on 10/15/13, but no response. I have left messages for the Savidusky's @ [redacted]on 10/18/13 and again on 10/22/13. No response.Desired Settlement: Either return my coat in it's original condition OR send me a cashier's check for $500 to full fill their consignment agreement.

Response:
[redacted] comments are reasonably correct with regard to the
consignment sale of her coat, save the statement regarding authorization
to transfer her coat to another dealer for purposes of sale. When we
take a used fur on consignment for resale we explain to all customers
that part of the selling process may include shipping the garment to
other dealers who might have a qualified prospective buyer. Neither [redacted], nor her husband [redacted], recall any such conversation. In
the Eberle case, we had turned her fur, and 153 others, over to Day Furs
in Carmel, IN, as they are taking over our resale business, and they
are contacting our customers one-by-one to transfer the consignment
contracts to Day Furs if the sellers wish. Day Furs is also running our
Going Out of Business sale, and taking over our jobs and storage
business. Since we have over 500 used furs at a given time, and store
well over 1,000 furs, and average about 100 jobs in progress, the
process of transfer is arduous, at best.
