Saunders Landscape Supply Reviews (31)

Unfortunately the only way to determine the quantity is to gather it all back together and place it in one pile. Unfortunately that is not practical or feasible.
Saunders Landscape Supply makes between 6000 and 7000 deliveries on an annual basis and it is very rare that the quantity is in question. Trying to determine the amount after distribution is like taking a 5 gallon bucket or water, dropping it in a parking lot, and asking how much water is on the pavement. The answer would be I do not know.

I reject the businesses response because he did not bother to inspect the delivery beyond commenting on the large tile pieces that were left out for him to look at. Don further stated that he wasn't worried about the delivery because Saunders Landscape has over 900 satisfied customers on [redacted] list. I have attached pictures of the quality of the organic/topsoil delivered.

Attached please find a copy of the online order made by [redacted]. Also attached is a copy of the receipt for the order.
Our driver ordered and received 6.5 tons of 57 bluestone from [redacted]s in [redacted], Maryland. The product type and quantity were confirmed by both the loader...

operator and the driver, who has been employed by Saunders Landscape Supply for 8 years.
Five cubic yards of 57 bluestone gravel was ordered by the client and delivered by Saunders Landscape Supply from [redacted]s in [redacted] Maryland. ( see attached )

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:There is no attempt to a resolution in Mr. Saunders response, such as inspecting the actual product I receivedas I was told would happen in my first contact with Mr. Saunders office. Mr. Saunders continues to disregard my concerns that I did not receive the product I ordered accordingto the pictures and descriptions of the product on his website. Mr. Saunders has since been unavailableto take the additional two calls I placed to him and has not returned those calls. So I still feel that the customer service and product I received from Mr. Saunders is inferior of a Revdex.com accredited business.

Saunders Landscape Supply only delivers bulk landscaping materials. We do not have any retail locations. We arrive on site at the manufacturer and bring the product to the end user.
All of the pictures posted on line are the best representation of the products. However, they are all natural...

products and the colors will vary from delivery to delivery. The office personnel of Saunders Landscape Supply would never state that the product would be identical to the picture, as they know that there is a variance. I spoke with Tracy would took Mr. [redacted]'s order. She stated that she never indicated that the photo would be identical.
I have also spoken to the driver, Mr. Tim J[redacted], who said that Mr. [redacted] was home at the time of delivery. However, Mr. J[redacted] stated that Mr. [redacted] saw the product after the doors were open and prior to it being dumped. At no time did Mr. [redacted] express that the product is not what he wanted, nor did he tell Mr. J[redacted] to stop the delivery process.
I have attached the pictures of the [redacted] product. The website indicated that it is identical to pea gravel, just that it is larger. The website states that pea gravel and [redacted] are cream and tan stone and that the color may vary depending on quarry.
Mr. [redacted] showed me material that he said was delivered previously by Luckstone. That material was small river jack and contains no tan, cream, beige, or brown color. It is also listed on the website of Saunders Landscape Supply and I have included a picture and description of it.
In summary, Mr. [redacted] ordered and was delivered 4 cubic yards of [redacted] gravel. At no time was he advised that the picture on the website would be identical to what would be delivered. Additionally, at no time during the delivery process did he advise the driver to stop, even though he was fully able to see the product. Saunders Landscape Supply's delivery policy is attached. Please note that all sales are FINAL - No returns.

Review: I ordered mulch from Saunders Landscape supply. When I began to spread the mulch Saunders had delivered, I found it was strewn with garbage and dangerous materials.

The first thing I found was candy wrappers, then a [redacted]'s straw, and then it escalated into weird/gross/dangerous objects. There were chunks of sharp metal, a medical ointment bottle, two fingers to a glove, broken glass, and enough trash to fill up a grocery bag.

The president of the company, [redacted], and I exchanged nearly a dozen emails. I showed him pictures of what I had found. He always responded quickly to calls and emails, but he never did anything to correct the situation. He did not even apologize.

[redacted]'s final response was emailed. He said, "Unfortunately all types of foreign matter, while not frequent, may be present [in the mulch]. All sales that Saunders Landscape Supply makes are final. I regret that we are unable to retrieve the product or offer a refund of any sort."

[redacted] sold us "premium" mulch, delivered trash, and refused to do anything to correct the situation.Desired Settlement: Apology, refund

Response:

The client took delivery of the mulch on April 24, 2014 and called on Friday April 25 in the afternoon to express concern that there was debris in the mulch. I returned the call and requested that the debris be left on the front porch. I went to the residence on Monday April 28 at 8:30 am. Approximately 5 cubic yards of the 10 cubic yards that was delivered still remained in the driveway. I looked throughout the pile and did not see any debris, nor did I see any debris on the front porch as I requested. I immediately called the member, left a voicemail, and did not hear back.

I then received an e mail 12 days after my initial visit/ telephone message inquiring about the situation. I requested that the debris be left out I order that I could observe it and the client politely declined. I explained that the raw material used to make mulch either comes from a tree service company or a land clearing company. In either case there could be some debris, as humans may travel in the woods prior to the clearing/ excavation process. While debris does not occur frequently, it is not uncommon.

After asking the question on Google, how many cubic feet are in a plastic grocery bag? I learned there is .4, i.e. four tenths of one. The original pile of mulch that was delivered was 270 cubic feet. Judging from the pictures the bag was significantly less than half way full. Therefore, 269.8 cubic yards of mulch were delivered, with various debris amounting to .2 yards, or 99.93 percent was mulch and .07 percent was debris. The client requested a complete refund and that the mulch be retrieved. My response was that all sales were final and that based upon the minimal debris I regret that we are unable to retrieve the product or offer a refund of any sort.

[redacted],

Review: On April 4, 2014, Saunders Landscape Supply delivered mulch to my residence. I paid for 13 yards of black color enhanced double shredded mulch. I received about 9 yards of mulch sometime between 5 and 7 PM that day. My neighbor placed the exact same order as I did, for delivery on the same day. Although their delivery wasn't made until Saturday morning, both we and the neighbors noticed that their pile of mulch was approximately 50% larger than ours. I have a photograph of our pile: I believe the neighbors also have a photograph of their pile.

I did not call Saunders that day because I wanted to believe that I had, in fact, received enough mulch. I also believed this very reputable company would make good on their contract should there be a problem.

I finished mulching my yard yesterday and realized that the delivery was, in fact, very short. The upgrade from the standard grade double-shredded mulch which I have ordered (and been very satisfied with) in the past to the color-enhanced black makes the shortage very visible. I have invited Saunders to come survey the yard using the same estimating tools they use to determine how much mulch to order. I believe it will be very easy to measure the yardage and depth of the delivered mulch because of the color upgrade. They have declined.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive the rest of my order. I welcome Saunders Landscape Supply to come view the distributed mulch to estimate the size of the initial delivery. Thank you.

Response:

There are 2 mechanisms that Saunders Landscape Supply uses to ensure that the proper quantity is delivered. First, the loader operator obtains the proper quantity from the driver of the truck. Second, when a delivery is made the driver is responsible for measuring the quantity that is dropped in one pile.

If there is an alleged shortage Saunders Landscape Supply dispatches a representative immediately upon notification prior to the product being spread. This allows the representative to accurately measure the pile and to confirm what quantity has been delivered.

However, once the mulch has been dispersed that measurement can no longer be taken.

According to our records 13 cubic yards of black mulch was ordered and delivered.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Delivering bulk mulch is an imprecise business: it is quite literally dumped from the back of a large truck. A little too great or small of an angle will greatly affect how much of a load is dumped/delivered.

Review: I ordered 10 cubic yards of organic topsoil which is supposed to be a blended mix of their topsoil and compost of which the topsoil is screened to 1/2 inch. I received a non blended mix with rocks, construction material, plastics and debris between 3/4 of and inch to 6 inch tile all of which looks nothing like what is pictured or advertised on their website. I called Saunders to complain about the construction material and rock sizes. Saunders sent a representative out who looked at the material and stated that the delivered product was within their specifications and that he wasn't too worried about a consumer complaint as Saunders has over 900 positive reviews on [redacted] list. I am still picking out rocks larger than 1/2 inch from my yard.Desired Settlement: That Saunders change their advertisements and that they refund half of the cost of material. Additionally I want them to remove me from their email and mailing list.

Business

Response:

After receiving the clients concern I personally visited the residence to inspect the topsoil. I found the product to be of satisfactory quality and consistent with the material that has been delivered by Saunders Landscape Supply. Saunders has earned the [redacted] List Super Service Award for the past 3 years by delivering this type of material. All of the topsoil is screened to 1/2 inch. If pieces are oblong then they may be larger than 1/2 inch. The debris that was present easily fit in the palm of my hand.

The client has been placed in an inactive status. In order to be deleted from e mail the opt out button should be selected.

Review: I ordered online 5 cubic yards of # 57 Bluestone 3/4. When I saw what was delivered it did not look like the 5 cubic yards and there was stone mixed in that was too large.

When I called the company they told me that someone would be out to look at it. The next morning the president of the company called to tell me that no one would

be out to look at the product because they were short on personnel and proceeded to read off what had been loaded on the truck and delivered. When I told him that that did not help me he told me not to interrupt him

and continued to read the weights of the product etc. Again I told him what is on paper is not what is in my drive way and when I asked if there was something else we could, do again he told me that if I was going to interrupt him then I could have a one way conversation with myself. So I asked him if he was going to send someone out to my property to verify the product he said no and that there was nothing I could do about it.Desired Settlement: I would like someone from their company to come to my property and face to face with me verify the product and if incorrect exchange it for the correct product and quantity.
