customers a fixed
price option so they will not be surprised by a high spot market rate in the
winter months. In the past you chose our fixed price option and never
experienced a price spike. On June 6, 2014 you signed a contract forgoing our
fixed rate option and you chose the spot rate. We never recommend floating your
price in the winter months, but since you signed a contract to float your price
we had to purchase your gas at the higher spot market price instead of the
fixed price you declined.
Right now you are experiencing costs as they occur monthly
rather than a flat fixed price for the entire year, so there is more volatility
in the ups and downs. Note that November and December rates were lower than the
fixed price you declined, and March through October are very likely going to be
lower as well. So it is not certain that over the course of 12 months you will have
higher overall gas costs this year.
If you do not have a copy of the contract you
signed and would like us to send it to you, please contact us and we will promptly
send you the contract you agreed to. To eliminate future price spikes, please
consider the fixed rate option to lock in a rate for the year and avoid
