On 05/08/the crew of San Diego Small Moves damaged my limestone floor and stairs by not removing the sharp stainless steel legs of a very heavy sofabed (250-lbs), even after I requested this be done in the original request for service emailThe crew lied to their managers saying the damage was already there, and that they had removed the legs, wrapped and lifted the sofaFact: I asked them to remove the legs, but I was told it couldn’t be donethey wrapped the sofa with shrink wrap, but the sharp legs tore through it when they dragged the sofa across the floor (my cleaning lady and I heard the screeching) and halfway down the stairs without a blanket on the floor, scratching and chipping it along the wayWhen they decided they couldn’t handle it anymore they asked me for a lug wrench to remove the legs, because they did not have any toolsSo they dragged it back up into the bedroom again and removed the legsThey caused further damage on the second try as well, because the sofa is heavy, the blanket they now used was in their way so they removed it after a while, and chipped and scratched some more steps with the metal on the underside of the sofabed when they lowered it on the stairs to take breaksI called the manager immediately while the crew was still there to report the damageThe manager (***) didn’t ask to speak with his workers right there and then to verify what happenedThey did not give me a claim form for damages or a receipt for payment, which I find highly illegal***’s excuse when I talked to him later on, and asked why the crew didn’t carry claim forms or receipts with them, was that “they are a paperless company.” But I never got an email receipt either for the $cash I paid themOn 05/21/I received an e mail from another manager Ken, stating that he believes his employees when they say the damage was already there, that they took off the legs of the sofabed, wrapped it and lifted it upSo he will not be paying for any damages, that he will not receive any further communication from us or any of our parties, and that the case is closed
