Just to stand in line at the downtown court house requires a min. of $5 parking plus 1 hour or more of standing in line for the clerk to process the proof of service. So $25 to serve a defendant is very reasonable. All I had to do was make sure the defendant still resided at last known address & worked at the same employer...then I filed my claim at the courthouse.
I emailed the docs & the server did his job & paid $25 for the roof of service which I simpply mailed to the court. Done deal...simple
Review: The advertisement of this business on Craigis List to service court documents to one address in the North County area of San Diego for $25 caught my attention. This business cashed my $25 check and did not serve my court Summons & Complaint document to the specified address. As a result, I had to go to the Vista court house and re-schedule the hearing date for the Summons & Complaint document and then hire another process server, who successfully served the document on the first attempt and provided me with a certified Proof of Service. In answer to my asking this business to refund the $25 I paid to serve the document, this business purports in a text message that it served the document on a specific date. In a later text message, this business rants asking me to pay an additional $25 because the occupant at the specified address was not present and had to be tracked down.Desired Settlement: Refund of $25 for service of process not rendered.
