To Whom It May Concern: This response is in regards to complaint number [redacted] filed against Sam’s Home Improvement. My company performed a roof replacement at this location in 2012. I was contacted by the homeowner regarding what they thought was a roof leak in June 2016. The reason the homeowner...
believed there was a roof leak was a soft spot under the wallpaper in their ground level bathroom. I followed up with their phone call and performed an inspection for any signs of a potential leak in their roof. I inspected the siding, shingles, flashing, and dormers of the roof for any sign of a leak. After finding no signs of a leak, I informed the homeowner that there was no roof leak. After a few weeks, I received another call from this homeowner claiming that there was still a leak in their roof. I followed up for a second time and performed a new inspection to identify any potential signs of a roof leak. Once again, I found no signs of a roof leak and informed the homeowner that there was no leak in their roof. The homeowner continued to contact me regarding this matter after I had explained to them that the roof was not the source of their issue. The homeowner then proceeded to file a complaint with the Revdex.com (Revdex.com), on 3/20/17. After the complaint was filed, I made another visit to the home on 3/21/17 to check for any signs of a potential leak. Once again, there were no signs of a roof leak. I explained to the homeowner that their roof was not the source of their issue in their ground level bathroom. After this visit, I followed up with the homeowner over the phone and asked if they had a bathroom upstairs that could be the source of the soft spot in their ground level bathroom. The homeowner confirmed that there was a second level bathroom directly above their ground level bathroom. After realizing this, I attempted to explain to the homeowner that the source of their soft spot in their ground level bathroom could be the result of a plumbing issue. Additionally, I agreed with the homeowner that I would make another visit to the home after a rain storm to see if there was a leak in the roof. I made this visit on Saturday, 4/1/17, after a rainy Friday, 3/31/17. I performed another inspection of the roof for a potential leak. Once again I inspected the siding, shingles, flashing, and dormers for any sign of a leak. Due to the recent rain storm, if there was a leak in the roof it would have been evident in these areas. After performing the inspection on the roof, the homeowner and I went into the attic in an attempt to identify any wet spots that would indicate a roof leak. This additional inspection, with the homeowner present, also resulted in no signs of a roof leak. After this inspection on 4/1/17, the day after a rain storm, I have proven to the homeowner that there is no roof leak and there has not been a roof leak since we replaced the roof. ...⇄ Regards, ...⇄ ...⇄ Samuel T[redacted] ...⇄ President
