I went to get my hair done at Clutch Hair Salon on 28TH Market Ct SUITE 10 in Hattiesburg, MS 39402 on July 17, 2020. The hair stylist name is ***, an employee of Clutch Hair Salon. She put a sew-in hair in my hair I believe called a deep wave which is suppose to last at least two months. The style cost me approximately $320. Two days after getting the hair in my head it started to smell really bad. I contacted *** and informed her of the hair smelling. It took her a week to do something about the smelly hair all along while still being in my head. After the week, she made arrangements for me to go into the salon and she washed the hair in while still in my head. Later in the next couple of weeks the hair begin to fail apart and there were several exposure of the under parts of the hair. I contacted *** and informed her of the situation and she set me up another appointment August 17, 2020 to have the hair removed and a relaxer placed into my original hair. After she removed the hair from my head, I noticed my original hair was coming out as well. I informed her of the observation and *** stated that she did not see my hair coming out. When I arrived home later that afternoon, I went to the mirror and looked at my hair in-depth. I noticed I had patches of hair missing from the back of my head. I also notice that my hair was extremely short. Prior to me getting this style done to me, my hair length of my hair was down to my neck line. I have photos of my hair before the style; with the style and after the hairstyle was removed from my head.
informed me about the situation at hand, and as the salon owner of Clutch, I am here to support the most adequate, reasonable, and professional solution to this issue. I, as the salon owner, am neither reliable nor responsible for any incidents that may occur between *** and her clients- as she is an independent licensed hairstylist. However, I have consulted with her about this situation, and in my professional opinion, she has made a decision to resolve this issue that is both suitable and reasonable. Please see her response and offered resolution.Hi, my name is *** May. I am a current licensed cosmetologist at “Clutch”, a hair salon located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I have been doing Mrs.’s hair for over a year. I have seen improvement in her hair since she has become a loyal client. She comes approximately every two- three weeks. On July 30th, Mrs. called me a day before her appointment and decided that she wanted to try to something new such as a sewin. She asked about the pricing of the hair and also the installment. We came to a decision on what type of style and length of the hair she desired. I stated to Mrs. that the hair was $165 and the installment was $155, with the exception of hair coloring she wanted; I normally would charge an extra fee for color, but I didn’t this time. Mrs. agreed to the pricing and proceeded to come in on July 31st. On the day of her appointment, we installed the sewin and she loved the style. I made sure throughout the whole time of braiding and sewing that her hair was not too tight and make sure she felt comfortable with everything- especially since this was her first time trying this style. We talked about how long the hair could possibly last with the “proper” maintenance, and I informed her that I offer weave maintenance as one of my services to keep the hair tight and fresh. I also gave her tips on how to take care of her hair while away from the salon. On August 5th, Mrs. contacted me stating that the hair smelled. I understood because sometimes we have these problems with human hair being shipped from over seas; however, this was my first encounter with my own hairline. I then proceeded to set the earliest appointment I had available for her to come in and get the hair washed and styled- free of charge. She took the offer and came in on August 10th so we could resolved the issue. A couple of days later Mrs. contacted me in regards of her closure starting to slide back and asked to set an appointment for a relaxer the following week. I agreed, and I also stated it will be free of charge for her relaxer. On August 17th I begin to take her hair down, and she saw her hair was shedding a little. Mrs. asked me did her hair break off and I responded no. I explained to her that our hair sheds everyday so with it being pinned up in braids it may seem like your hair is falling out but it is just your normal amount of shedding. After explaining this to Mrs., I reinsured her that her hair was perfectly fine and we continued to relax and style her hair. As I was styling her hair I was evaluating her hair thoroughly to be sure everything was fine with her hair- and it was normal. There were no bald spots, no breakage, and no hair loss. Throughout my experience of doing sewins with my own hairline, this was my first time encountering this issue. I have photos of her hair before she got this specific style. Per my contract and website, the purchase of the hair and the prices are nonnegotiable. The installment was $155. Mrs. has gotten free services of a relaxer and color throughout this entire process. With all of that being said, I will offer to deduct $80 (for the relaxer) from $155, and will offer her the remaining $75 back from the installment that she paid along with the actual original hair that she purchased in a professional effort to resolve this matter as peacefully as possible from my perspective as a businesswoman.
