My car broke down when I was out of town in Phoenix, AZ, and at first I thought it fortunate I was close to a reputable mechanic. However when I talked to my mechanic about the repair I was informed they charged me more than double what I should have paid for parts and labor on the job.
Review: I paid Salem boys auto 552.00 dollars for work done on my car. Three and a half weeks after I retrieved my car I still have the same problem. The car died on the freeway. I called the shop and was told they will not diagnose the problem unless I pay for the diagnosis and any nessecary repairs. I would think they would be responsible for fixing my car. My car was in their shop three times in two weeks yet they did not fix the problem.Desired Settlement: I would be happy if they would refund my money so I can get my car fixed correctly.

Response:
Mr. [redacted] has
left out some important information regarding the repair of his vehicle at Salem
Boys Auto (SBA) . The three Repair orders that Mr. [redacted] refers to are
listed below:
RO# [redacted]
7/15/13 NO REPAIR WORK, we could not duplicate problem, thought it could be due
to his DUI interlock system.
RO# [redacted]
7/17/13 SBA REPLACED PCM, NOTED OTHER PROBLEMSVehicle has no spark or
fuel, found that there was no power out of terminal 57 of the PCM going to
injectors and the constant control relay module. Replaced PCM. We told customer
the constant control relay was buzzing after computer was replaced and that if
the relay module went bad, it may need to be replaced, more diagnostic time would
be necessary, customer declined. At the time vehicle left it was starting and
running properly. We also noted: The TFI module has a bad connection and left a
code for the ignition system. And the key will come out of the ignition with
the vehicle running.
During the
repair process, we installed the new PCM and the car engine started and ran
fine, We then reinstalled the defective PCM and the car would not restart. This
test insured there was no bad connection between the PCM and the wire harness
connector.
RO#[redacted] 7/22/13
REPAIRED WIRING AT NO CHARGE, NOTED OTHER PROBLEMSThe vehicle died in flight
after leaving the shop on 7/19/13. We got vehicle started, brought back to the
shop and found the connector to the TFI module was intermittently causing the
TFI module to fail. (We noted this was a problem on RO#[redacted]) We arranged
to get the vehicle to Salem Boys and we replaced the TFI module connector
as goodwill to the customer.
Other problems
found and noted on RO-- Oil light flickeredTransmission slipping was 1 qts low
on fluid, topped off at no charge. Lower end knock at higher RPMsCheck engine
light came on with code 332 EGR not functioning. We would have to perform more
diagnosis.

Message from Mr. [redacted]: I am very disappointed in the service I received at
your shop. Your mechanic said my computer was bad. I paid 550.00 dollars to fix
the problem. I drove about a mile from your shop and my car died. They called
and said they found some bad wiring. I can see where it looks like they
replaced some wiring. My car does run now but they broke a piece of trim on the
drivers seat and my seat wont go back. They also burned a quarter tank of my
gas. I WILL NOT recommend your shop to anyone.
We closed his Customer
file after this message and sent him a note saying it was closed and good
luck finding a new repair shop. He did not ask for a refund, but his list of
complaints got longer and longer
.

am Mr. [redacted] called, said he was broken down on the side of the road, what
were we going to do about it. We told him he could bring the vehicle in and we
would check it, but if it was not related to the previous repair he would have
to pay the check out and repair charges. He did not want to pay for anything. He
got angry, he threaten us and hung up.
