Review: I made an appointment for my son with this dermatology center for his annual full body check and to discuss a few areas of concern on his face and chest (on 3/25/15). At the time I made the appointment I stated all the resons for the office visit. My husband had an appointment on the same date, so he drove our son to the appointment. After a very long wait, both were brought into an exam room for the discussion on the face concern (about 5 minutes), then my son was sent out of the room so my husband could have his exam. That evening as we discussed the outcomes, we discovered that our son was never brought back into an exam room to finish the full body check by this or any other doctor at the practice. I complained to the office and was told I would need to bring my son back in if I wanted the exam done, so I did (a 15 minute visit on 5/4/15). Surprisingly, I am being billed for 2 office visits separately at a cost of $142.82. The billing office says that we did not communicate the nature of the visit on the first appointment. I disagree, since I told the front office clearly what the visit was for at the time I made the appointment. I was told that they front office does not communicate this with the doctor, they only schedule the proper amount of time. I find this an unacceptable excuse and would like the office to only charge for one appointment for what should have been done in one visit.Desired Settlement: I am asking the billing office to zero out the charge from the 3/25/15 visit ($71.41). I will agree to pay in full for the 5/4/15 visit ($71/41).

Response:
Patient was brought to his dermatology appointment by his father, the mother was not present. When the father was asked the reason for the son's appointment, the father informed my medical assistant that the patient was being seen for moles on his face. The patient received an evaluation for the moles on his face. The mother called the office and expressed that she had wanted her son to have a full body skin check and not just the moles on his face checked. My medical assistant informed the mother that she should schedule another appointment and come with her son for a full body skin check. Patient had a second appointment with me. The patient was brought by his mother for the second visit and he received a significant evaluation for a full body skin check. Due to the fact that the father did not state that the patient was to be seen for a full body skin check on the first visit, I told the mother that I would extend a discount to her for the second visit. Mother does not want to pay the balance for the second visit.
