Main air duct had come unattachedCalled another company out for an estimateThey wanted to charge me over a to fixCalled SOS and Steve was amazing!! Fixed everything for half thatI will always be calling SOS for my future needs!
Our upstairs A/C unit went outWe called our home warranty company who sent over Steve from S.O.SMechanical HVACHe went into the yard to check on the unit then came back and said we were low on freon and he needed to go into the attic to check for a leakThis would cost us $which was not covered under our home warrantyAfter going into our attic for approxminutes he said yes you have several leaksHe then said he could try a leak sealant and new freon at a cost of $which should fix the issue (not covered by home warranty company)Or he could install a new unitWe decided to get a 2nd opinionWe got opinions from other a/c companiesBoth immediately said it was the fan motor as the fan kept shutting off (we had told this to Steve)Both checked the freon level and said it was perfectAND both guys told us this is a common scam right now in the valleyOur home warranty company paid for a new fan motor and the unit is functioning greatWe called Steve and told hm we were reporting hm to the Home Warranty co, Registrar of Contractors and Attorney General's OfficeHe then agreed to refund the $for the phony leak detectionWe then told him we wanted our $service call refunded and he sent a string of abusive rude text messagesAfter we contacted the above agencies plus Revdex.com he finally refunded the $
Our upstairs ac unit went outWe contacted our *** Home Warranty who then sent Steve from SOS outHe went in the backyard to check out the unitHe came back and told us it was very low on freon and he had to do a leak detectionThe cost was $and would not be covered by the warranty companyWe paid him and he went into the atticminutes later he came back and said we had leaksWe had two optiocould do a leak sealant and new freon for $or install a new unit, neither of which would be covered under the warranty company
We told him we would think about itWe had a friend who is a licensed ac tech come overIt was a fan motor and the unit of full of freonWe then called our warranty co who sent a different tech out the next dayHe also verified the freon level was fine and it was just a bad fan motorHe installed a new one and the issue was resolvedWe then called Steve back and told him he tried to scam usHe said he would send us a check for $whic
On 4-24-my Home Warranty dispatched SOS Mechanical HVAC to service a complaint of a partial loss of AC, sometimes it would throw cold air other times just warm room air
Steve of SOS examined the system and said no mechanical failure was discovered He collected my Service Fee and left
We had a complete failure of the AC cooling system on 5-4- I contacted Steve from SOS and he came on 5-7-after repeated calls
He said the Schender valve was leaking, that it would cost $to replace and it would not be covered under the Warranty He said he would place a cover on it, like in a tire valve on a car and it should stop it from leaking
What he said next, I found very interesting, he said “I noticed some “OIL” on the valve on my previous 4-24-visit.” This I believe was left unchecked by him, so then the rest of the Freon would escape and allow him to charge a larger cost to me
He then said it would cost me $for the replacement of the Freon But since I was a senior citizen, he would reduce the amount to $ I told him that price was outrages and that I would have some other Technician replace itHe became angry and said, “in that case, I’ll remove the Schender valve I put in and leave you without Air ConditioningI asked him when did he replace the valve, he said “I remembered, I had a wrench that would allow me to do it, so I did it” if you don’t pay me the $200.00, I’ll take the valve off and leave”
I had no choice then but to pay him the $as we live in Arizona and need air conditioning in degree weather
I called Home Warranty and placed him on the do not assign to me list
I have since learned from another Technician that the cost of the Freon was not $per pound as Steve from SOS Mechanical said but $per pound with technician cost of $or $
The Schender valve was not $but costs less than $
SOS Mechanical likes to overcharge and put people at their mercy If you do not agree with Steve, then he becomes verbally abusive
I have never had such an unpleasant experience with a company before The unprofessionalism and overcharging people is appalling and I hope no one else has this experience
To whom it may concern,Customer thought I misdiagnosed his unit so the $250 which was paid was refunded and his $45 service fee was mailed back in full on 7-26-2017. My procedures are given to me by warrantee companies so I followed the procedures and performed a leak search. At the time of service...
call the fan motor was operational, therefore, it would not be covered until failure occurred. Both would have been taken care of by the warrantee company. Money was paid back and customer was apologized to.Sincerely, Steve F[redacted]Owner of S.O.S Mechanical
