Shop did not do all repairs that were quoted in price but charged for them. On Tuesday March 1, 2016 I took my 2005 dodge grand caravan to R W auto shop for replacement of rack and pinion and alignment.I was quoted $600 for these repairs. [redacted] (owner) specifically said for rack and pinion replacement and alignment. I picked the van up the evening of Saturday March 5, 2016.I paid the entire amount owed by debit card which was $618.46.I immediately noticed a hard pull to right when driving. [redacted] had left for the day and they are closed on Sunday. I called him on Monday March 7, 2016 and told him the problem and that I knew this repair required an alignment to be complete. I took the van to another shop to confirm that a rack and pinion repair always requires an alignment. During the phone conversation he stated that he did not do the alignment but insisted that there must be something else wrong and that I could bring it back to him and see what else was wrong inferring that he would charge us more money. The price he quoted initially on March 7th 2016 was for the rack and replacement and alignment.I paid for an alignment that I did not receive. He has no intention of doing the alignment so we will have to take the van to another shop and pay (again) to have it done.Desired SettlementI would like a refund for the amount of the alignment in order to take my vehicle somewhere else to have the alignment done. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] OwnerContact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@embarqmail.comMr [redacted] did bring his van in for repairs. The rack and pinion was replaced and the toe was adjusted which requires putting alignment gauges on car.camber and caster were checked but was not out of factory specs.the only way to adjust camber is to grind the struts which is an additional charge caster is not adjustable.I told the customer that when I gave him the estimate about a month before repairs. The 18.00 dollar difference in the estimate was the sales tax on labor. The customer picked his car up on Saturday morning. when he left I was open for business for about 2 hours if he had a concern he could of came right back. When I talked with the customer on Monday I told him that I had set the toe and that when I had driven the car there was no pull but I would look at the car for him he slammed the phone down I tried to call him back but he would not answer. I talked to the owner of the alignment shop where the customer carried his car and he told me the alignment was in specs.I dont know what else I can do to sastify Mr. [redacted] I never implied to him that I was going to charge him to look at his car. Consumer Response The pull was the reason I brought in the van in the first place when this all started. I was told the rack and pinion needed to be replaced and all the shops I talked to said this always requires an alignment as part of the repair. [redacted] said it included the alignment.I would have never let him keep my van for the week it took for the repair only have to take it somewhere else to have it finished. That makes no sense. I had the alignment done somewhere else the van now drives without the pull and no it did not require grinding the struts. I don't feel he was being honest and I am not satisfied with his response.
