In response to Revdex.com complaint# ***
Customer brought in unit for CEL (Check Engine Light). Connected unit to computer and found fault
codes for DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst) face plugging and SCR (Selective
Catalytic Reduction) efficiency. Ran
dynamic engine system analysis
and SCR catalyst failed. Replaced SCR catalyst with new temp sensors
and hardware. Cleared all fault codes
and ran dynamic engine system analysis again.
Test failed again due to “Aftertreatment Fuel System” needing
inspection. Customer
declined further diagnostics/repairs at this point. While unit in our possession, customer
requested install trailer airline holders on back of cab and clutch
adjustment.
Unit left our facility and subsequently shut down. Unit towed back and inspected for CEL and
engine shutdown. Performed cooling
system diagnostics and found faulty fan clutch.
Advised customer to also replace thermostat and coolant temp
sensor. Replaced thermostat, thermostat
seal, and coolant temp sensor only. Customer declined root cause repair. Checked for leaks and completed repair.
First repair dealt with the aftertreatment system. Second repair dealt with engine cooling. The unit shutting down after leaving was
totally unrelated to the items repaired on initial visit. Additional downtime was incurred as we were
waiting for authorization to repair from the customer. Rush Truck Center Albuquerque repaired unit
as per authorizations given by customer.
As for unit overheating after leaving facility, again
repairs were unrelated. Upon return, we
diagnosed a faulty fan clutch which didn’t allow the unit to cool as necessary,
