I received a call from [redacted] on the morning of
10/11/2015 she was looking for a company to come down and till her backyard
that same day. From the information that she gave me I gave her an estimate
with a range from 350.00 – 475.00. She stated that she had tilled her front
yard and put [redacted]k...
in and she wanted to get the work done so that she could put
artificial grass in the back. She told me that she would be contacting Home
Depot to reserve the machine and pay for it over the phone. We would only need
to pick it up and do the work because she was unable to pick up the machine.
She told me she would call me back. About 45 minutes later she called and said
that [redacted] was really busy and they told her they would have someone call
her back. I told her that I would be out and that she should reserve it around
noon, she asked if that would be enough time I told her the job would take us
about 3 hours. She called me back and told me that they would not let her pay
for the machine by phone and that she would have to go to the store and that
she didn’t have the means to do so. I told her that if we needed to rent the
machine it wouldn’t be a problem. She then called the [redacted] again and then
she called me back and told me she had it reserved at the [redacted] on Power
and Germann Rd about 10-15 miles from her home. She later gave me a call and in the discussion
she told me she had some grass in her backyard and she was going to cut it. She
called me back again and stated that her lawn mower was not working and she had
an illness that caused her not to feel well in the sun, she asked how much I
would charge to cut the grass I told her 20.00 she stated that I had only given
her a range price and that she needed a firm price because she was working on a
budget of 400.00 at that point I told her that I would come down and take a
look at the backyard give her a formal quote and if the grass she had was as
she stated on the phone call I would cut and we would come down on Monday
morning and do the job. She then
commented if you are going to cut the grass today you might as well do the job
today. You can come down give me the quote and then go pick up the machine and
come back. I received a call from her around noon I missed the call and called
her back. At that point I was heading her way and I told her if the grass is in
the condition that you are stating I am willing to go ahead with the job at
400.00 and rent the [redacted] on my way to you. We both agreed that it made the
most sense being as I stated before the distance of the [redacted] from her
home. I arrived at her place around 12:30 we unloaded the [redacted] and I used a
weed whacker to scalp the scattered grass in the backyard, raked and began
tilling the yard. Elizabeth came out and
offered us bottles of water she told my partner that she didn’t think that it
was deep enough I told her and my partner told her that he would be going over
the yard repeatedly . My partner tilled the yard turning the dirt at first
about 2 inches deep and then continuously ran the [redacted] until the dirt was
turned at the maximum capacity of the machine at 3.5 – 3.75 inches deep more
than adequate to uproot the scattered grass in the yard. We tilled by shovel
the area along the barrier wall and the patio area, and ran the machine as
close to the wall of the house without damaging any plumbing lines or exposing
termite treatment which is placed 10 inches off the wall of the house by the
builder. (I had a house built by the builder in that neighborhood that the
reason I am familiar with the specs) We raked and removed about a ton of grass
roots and [redacted]ky debris from the yard. The job took approximately 3 hours. We
then blew out the walk in area washed the machinery and packed up. [redacted]
was present throughout the entire process. She did not have any issues until
the end when told me that she was not planning to put down the artificial grass
right away and that it would not be for a couple of months. She asked me if I warranted
the work . I told her we turned over the dirt and she did not ask us to apply
any treatment. I told her I could not guarantee that if it rains that nothing
will grow there its turned soil. I told her as a courtesy I would spray treatment
on it and I did. I also stated that I would treat as a courtesy any growth for
two months being that I didn’t know she would not be laying the artificial
grass immediately after the tilling. The work she requested was done I also
offered a courtesy because I want my customers to be satisfied with our work. The complaint comes as a surprise because we extended every
courtesy. Offered price break to fit her budgetAbsorbed the cost of the rental Picked up the rental for the customer and returnedGave free treatment after the job and extended it for 2 months until her delayed stated project begins.
This is my response to company:First I am not sure why Tammy is surprised about the complaint when: A) I made it clear I wasn’t happy when they were here packing up to go. I specifically told her she was not done. We were outside arguing about it I even asked if she was licensed with the [redacted]. B) I text her and told her I was going to put a complaint against her (see attached picture of text). There was no warranty given to me by Tammy for anything. I have nothing that says her work is guaranteed or anything. Tammy only treated up against the house because I was making a big deal about the fact that she did not remove the grass from there (see attached picture with valve cover as proof A) that the work was not done and B) that it is more than 10” from the house). If Tammy really did [redacted] 3.5 – 3.75 than why is there a sprinkler still in the ground and the hard dirt all around it? Tammy told me they removed all the sprinkler heads. I have to check to see if Tammy really did topped off the sprinkler system as requested. Why are there still roots in my back yard? Why is the loose dirt only ¼ of an inch and the rest hard dirt? If Tammy really did what she said I would have a lot of dirt flying around and that sprinkler would not be there not to mention I would not have roots in my back yard that are ½ inch in the ground. I had another person come out here and give me their opinion on what he thinks. He agrees with me that the work was not done right. I need to redo the whole job with someone else all over again. Tammy is right about one thing, we did go back and forth on the phone. That is why I asked her to come here and give me an estimate on the job and what is included. Tammy refused to do that, said it was a waist of her gas to come here and then go pick up the [redacted] machine. I trusted Tammy to do the right job. As a professional she should have known what was needed. She should have told me that treatment was necessary. Once Tammy agreed to do the work for $400.00 she should have done the full job everything that is necessary for that amount; not only half of it. Tammy also knew I wasn’t going to do anything with the backyard anytime soon because I did tell her that. The work needs to be redone. I have already received one estimate for $425.00. I am meeting with one other person tomorrow.I still seek a full refund; the work was not done the way I agreed to and certainly not in a professional way at all.
