Roto-Rooter Plumbers

Review: We contacted Roto-Rooter after we had our septic pumped because it was suddenly backing up and we thought there may be a blockage caused by tree roots. They came, charged us $1,775 for a "diagnostic", and found no roots. They came another day, charged us $825 to snake the pipes. They came another day with a backhoe, charging us another $481 to dig up the distribution box and pump it out. They notified us after digging up our yard that we did not have a distribution box, the pipes go straight into the gravel, and we needed to have the leach field replaced. We called another service who checked that our leach field was not saturated, diagnosed the problem, dug up the distribution box, which was where it was supposed to be according to the plans, pumped out the distribution box, flushed the sludge out of the lines, and put beneficial bacteria/enzymes in the box. This company, for doing more than Roto-Rooter did and resolving the problem, charged us $800. Roto-Rooter charged us $3,081, told us we were missing a distribution box which is not true, told us we needed very costly repairs, and did not resolve the problem. Either the workers at this company are inept or this is a scam.Desired Settlement: We would like a refund of the full price we paid to Roto Rooter and an explanation of how they could say we did not have a distribution box when in fact we do.
