Review: Ross Hardwood Floors charged $2950.00 to my wife's [redacted] on August 8, 2013. She discussed having our hardwood floors refinished with a [redacted] of Ross Hardwood floors in early August. We agreed on a date of August 26th for the work to be completed. The home that was to have the hardwood floors refinished was located at [redacted]. The house is currently for sale. At the time that the letter from [redacted] was signed there was a couple interested in buying the house. He stated that if we decided “in the next few days” we could cancel. I informed him that I wouldn’t cancel with only 1 week notice. It was my understanding that we agreed to this verbally. There was never an exact cancellation date discussed and nothing in letter letter details any limitations on cancelling or any company policies regarding cancellation. On the morning of August 14th, 6 days after signing the contract and 12 days prior to the work being started she emailed [redacted] indicating my instructions to cancel the job. He stated that it was too late and I could not cancel at that point and that he would not refund my money. According to our attorney,[redacted] we are protected under the [redacted] 59.1-21.4 paragraphs 2 and 3 which give us the right to cancel. Additionally the company is not in compliance with the Act in that they failed to meet requirements that spell out their cancellation policy in writing above signatures.Desired Settlement: Ross hardwoods to refund our credt card r the deposit of $2950.00

Response:
The customer’s were under contract for the floors to be refinished in the house mentioned in the complaint filed. They were told that if they wanted to cancel that night or the next day they could but the reservation was already made and the contract was already in place. After a week the customer tried to get out of the contract but because other clients had been turned down for their time frame the business was under no obligation to cancel the contract. Their contract was in place and they were not let out of the purchase price.
