Review: This nail salon engaged in unethetical and illegal practices and takes advantage of their customers. I have been a victim today. 1) The Service I agreed to manicure/pedicure $23.99. I was told I MUST pay $26.50 That is the price with tax. This is WRONG and Illegal because TAX in NYC is 4.25% ($1.10) I was charged more than double. 2) I said I will pay with my credit card. The Owner told me if WITH CREDITCARD she would charge an additional $2.00!! ($28.50) Which is illegal! The owner ([redacted] woman in her [redacted]). I began to get angry and she decided not to charge me the $2.00 credit card "penalty" and told me "Everyone knows you must bring cash" Please investigate! I have supporting material if you need it such as my credit card receiept for $26.50 and $23.99 photo of advetised price.Desired Settlement: Fine and investigate her TAX practices. She bullies people to pay cash and collects double tax which all goes to her pocket.

Response:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
The owner of Rose Salon stated she charged $1.57 for the dry machine. This is the FIRST time I've heard such a thing. This is her rational to explain why she overcharges customers "Tax" -- it's illegal to cover your operating costs and tell customers it's Tax!
The owner said $26.50 is the what I had to pay her for $23.99 weekday service. $2.51 was TAX according to her.
The cost of her doing business is her cost and she can't SUPRISE customers with extra charges above and beyond what is LEGAL!
$23.99 and 4.25% service tax was all she should collect . UNLESS she adverises and DISCLOSES the additional fee's she intends to collect and received AGREEMENT in advance from customers. It is also ILLEGAL for business owners to impose a $2 credit card charge on customers who do not wish to pay her in cash.
Sincerely,
