((WARNING)) read this before using this so call law firm. This SLEAZE SLEAZE SLEAZE of a Law Firm is THE WORST PREDATOR LAW FIRM IN CHICO, CA. It's like if you need to get a serious surgery, but before you get the surgery you get a second opinion to make sure that you really need that surgery. So before you sign any contract and I mean any contract from this sleaze law firm, have a second attorney go over the contract PERIOD!. Then you'll see that the contract this law firm wants you to sign is a sleaze contract. I made that mistake of believing in his lying promises. DO NOT trust this sleaze of a LAW FIRM PERIOD. DO NOT use this law firm Period. Because his words do not mean anything nor do his promises. (((WARING WARNING WARING PREDATOR LAW FIRM IS IN OUR MIST)))!

Review: They're trying to bill me additional charges beyond original agreed upon prices

I called Mr. [redacted] when I received divorce papers to see if he would represent me. I told him all I had was $1,500.00 & asked if he would be able to take my case & get my divorce finalized for me & he said he would. I sent him the money & a year later (and after having to make a trip to California for a court appearance that I was told in the beginning that would not be necessary) my divorce was finalized in November 2011. The day my divorce was signed, my attorney that was assigned to my case, [redacted], and I were standing outside of the courthouse in Oroville & I asked him if we were all squared up on the fees. He told me that we were and said that he had "billed me lightly". Then I started receiving letters in January of 2013 saying that I owed them $2,705.17. I called [redacted] repeatedly with no response. He finally contacted me several months later when he had a question in regards to something else. I told him then about the letters I'd been receiving every month. He said he had nothing to do with the billing but would talk to someone about it. I've continued to receive these letters & most recently received one dated August 27, 2013 stating that my account is seriously past due & will be turned over to collections. I do not feel I owe one single dime. Mr. [redacted] & I agreed on a price up front for my divorce. And his firm was to handle my divorce so that I wouldn't have to travel back to California, which I ended up having to do & incur additional expense for. Desired Settlement: I want these false billing charges dropped & my account with them zeroed out.

The Rooney Law Firm worked incredibly hard and diligently on behalf of this client, and made numerous appearances in this matter, including trial in November 2011. Our office is proud with the results that were obtained on behalf of the client in this action, and the client expressed that she was thrilled with the results. Nonetheless, the Rooney Law Firm has cleared additional charges for services rendered.

I would like a final statement or something in writing from the Rooney Law Firm staring that my account is paid in full & no additional monies are due now nor in the future.

Review: I retained the services of this firm on June 5th, 2015 for $5,000. On June 30th, 2015, per my contract with them, I gave written notice of discharge hand delivered to the receptionist. Also per my contract, there was NO mention of my retainer being non-refundable. The contract terms stated this retainer would be placed in a trust account and any unused portion would be given back. I had one consultation with Mr. [redacted] (advertised as "free" but $50 was subtracted from my trust account) as well as one, 1 hour long consultation with a paralegal prior to my discharge of the firm. Since June 30th, 2015 I have called weekly (approx 8 calls so far), came into the office on 3 occasions, and was once told via phone that the billing department would issue me a refund check, but I have yet to receive anything from them. My most recent call today, 8/26/15, I was given the same excuse that I have received every previous time, which is that my call will be returned. I have NEVER received a call back on this matter.Desired Settlement: I want my retainer returned to me, minus services rendered, per my written contract.
