Review: I purchased a 1955 Studebaker, Commander from the mentioned dealer (Ron Lawrence Auto Sales, Modesto,Ca. 95354). It was a lien sales, vehicle paperwork over 8 years old. VIN numbers did not match VIN Plate on car, whenever DMV checked it out. We found an old registration 1996-1999, VIN#[redacted], which is correct. The Lien people, put the VIN# [redacted], which is incorrect! So now we have an INVALID LIEN SALE, a new Lien Sale needs to be conducted. This, was all happening within the first three days of my purchasing this car.I would like my money back. This vehice should not be on the streets, it is UN-SAFE.(1)Transmission,improper fluid level or leakage, excluding normal seepage, abnormal noises or vibration caused by faulty trans., or drive shaft, improper shifting or funtioning to go into high gear.(2)Cooling System, leakage including radiator.(3)Electr.System, improperly functioning alternator, battery, or starter.(4)Inoperable Acessories, gauges, heater&defroster.(5)Brake System, Pedal not firm under pressure(DOT spec.)Not enough pedal reserve(DOT spec.)Does not stop vehicle in straight line(DOT spec.)Drum or rtor too thin(Mfgr. specs).(6)Steering System, Too much free play at steering wheel(DOT specs)free play in linkage more than 1/4 inch, front wheels aligned improperly(DOT specs.)(7)Suspension System, ball joint seals damaged, structural parts bent or damaged, shock absorber mounting loose, rubber bushing damaged or missing, radius rod damaged or missing, shock absorber leaking or functioning improperly.(8)Tires, sizes mismatched, visible damage.(9)Exhaust, Leakage.Desired Settlement: I would like my full REFUND, on this vehicle.I traded in a 2002 [redacted] Civic, in excellent shape, worth aprox. $5,000, to buy this 1955 Studebaker, Commander (Junker)It should never have been in a car lot! Thank You for yur time on this matter. Sincerely; Mr.[redacted]

Response:
Mr. [redacted], I had already responded to this complain to you the day after I first recieved your email, this will be my last response to this complain. First of all, this complain should had never been done toward the car lot. This sales was not through the Ron Lawrence auto sales. This sales was done as a personal. My wife had driven the vehicle to the lot that day, when Mr. [redacted] saw the vehicle and wanted to tray it in for his 2002 [redacted] civic. she told Mr. [redacted], that the vehicle was As Is and that it had been parked for a few years, it needed some work done to it, but the motor was good. She also let him know we had a lein pack on it. He test drove the car and decided to traid his title for the lein pack on the Studebaker. Now he is right about the Lien Pack having an incorrec Vin number , to which we have since contacted the Lien Service about the error, which has already been corrected, Mr. [redacted] also complained about the steering on the vehicle having too much play on it, so we asked him to bring it back, to our place and we would have our mechanic fix it. to which we did more repair than just the Steering wheel. Mr. [redacted] picked the vehicle up on June 25, 2015, after my mechanic called him to let him know it had been repaired, so he came by and took the vehicle. This is not the first time Mr. [redacted] has made a complain on us, this is his fourth time he's made business with us. He has purchased 3 vehicles through the car lot, then this one (1955 Studebaker)personal, for someone who complains alot, sure continues to purchased vehicles from us, figure that one out. But my only complain toward Better business is that this sale was not made through our car lot. There was no contract on this sale, strickly personal.

Response:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
RON Lawrence Car Lot, did fix the steering suspension to a safe condition on the front end.I hope he does not let his wife drive too many cars like this, UNTIL he drives it himself! Especially, with no power brakes, or power steering steering.
