Response to complaint #[redacted]
The contract stated plastic roof fibered cement and silver coating if needed. Our installer completed the silver coating on the flat roof but did not feel that the roofing cement was the correct fix and that a chimney flashing/riglet should be cut into the chimney so that the leak would be fixed for long term
We returned to the home with an independent contractor who specializes in flat roofing. He confirmed that a riglet would be the long term fix. We still installed the roof cement to fulfill the contract and returned with our roofing foreman to install a new riglet. At this point all contracted work has been completed.
On another note, I must address the tarping of home. My crew was told to stop working by the homeowner and her mother as they believed the rotten decking being replaced needed to be green treated lumber. After an hour or two they spoke with the contractor of their choice, the contractor agreed that we were doing the job correctly.
NOTE-this roof was leaking in multiple spots before we started the job. My crew had left for the afternoon as they cannot just sit and wait for them to decide when we can start again.
The next day, a Saturday, we received storms with wind driven rain that was blowing water under our synthetic underlayment. The home owner called and my roofing crews got down there and tarped area. Unfortunately all this was a result of my crew being stopped from working caused by confusion of proper roof decking installation.
By the end of the job we replaced 1x6’s around entire perimeter of roof deck and re-sheeted entire porch, none of which was billed to the homeowner, besides the riglet that were not charged for either.
The homeowner still owes our company the final $5,000, the balance on the contract.
Sincerely,
Jesse [redacted]
