Rodeway Inn of Escondido

Review: I booked this hotel through [redacted] so I could get rewards points. Unfortunately, my cat had to have emergency surgery a few days before I was supposed to go down to San Diego. This meant I had to postpone my trip. Five days prior to my check-in day, I attempted to cancel my stay at the Rodeway Inn in Escondido first online through http://southwest.com, where I booked it. However, the hotel never gave [redacted] a cancellation confirmation number, so I couldn't cancel it through [redacted]. They told me I had to cancel it through the hotel itself. I called the Rodeway Inn and they would not cancel it because I booked through [redacted]. They said there was nothing they could do and I had to cancel it through [redacted].

So for the next three days, I made several phone calls to [redacted] and to the Rodeway Inn going back and forth attempting to cancel this hotel. Finally, the day before my check-in date, Rodeway Inn suddenly decides it IS possible to cancel through them after all, but you must cancel at least 4 days in advance, otherwise there is a $60 cancellation fee. This is absolutely RIDICULOUS being that I called 5 days in advance and they wouldn't cancel it! I told them I'm not paying any fee and informed them that I would keep trying to cancel through [redacted], who does not charge cancellation fees.

After another failed attempt canceling through [redacted], I had my husband call the hotel and they LIED to him. They told him they had talked to me earlier and I had agreed to the cancellation fee! After much arguing, they agreed that we canceled days ago, but still refused to budge on the $60 fee. They have forced me into paying a $60 fee that I DID NOT agree to, on top of not adhering to their cancellation policy. I had asked them to cancel my reservation more than 4 days prior to my check-in date, they AGREED this was the case, and yet they are still charging me a $60 cancellation fee that they charge customers who do not cancel 4 days in advance.Desired Settlement: Refund my credit card.
