After speaking with the young lady that Ms [redacted] dealt with at the store, I’m not sure exactly what happened.Apparently Ms [redacted] had a receipt of some kind in her hand. However, she wouldn’t let our shift lead see it. We almost always refund in the rare case of a customer complaint...
although we do ask that the uneaten portion of the product be returned. Per Ms [redacted], she had eaten most of the box of chocolate and that was all she had eaten that day. Of course, there is nothing in candy to “go bad” and make you sick but as the customer stated, eating most of a pound of candy on an empty stomach might indeed give you a stomach ache. That all being said, had she allowed the employee to see the receipt she would have given the refund. Our shift lead did try to find the transaction but, without a receipt, or any idea when a transaction happened, it is difficult to find. We do our best to maintain a great customer experience but sometimes it is just impossible to satisfy a customer. In these instances, I tell all my employees that if possible, they should do what the customer wants, but under no circumstances are the to “fight” with customers. My employee was trying to find a way to refund Ms [redacted]’s money but when she began threatening the employee with the health department she did just what she should have. She suggested that Ms [redacted] to do just what she had threatened and moved on. This all could have all been avoided had she just given the receipt to our employee. Ms [redacted] would have gotten her refund which is what she really wanted. Of course, this is still the case, If Ms [redacted] went to the counter today with a receipt and the remainder of the product and made her complaint we would refund her money it just becomes slightly more difficult when it isn’t a same day transaction. We usually find that when a customer goes to great lengths to hide this kind of information there is almost always something else going on. ThanksMike H[redacted]
