Review: [redacted] was hired to do driveway work that he under estimated to get the job. He installed 10 culverts which 8 don't work. His workmanship was shoddy as well as unreliable. He accidentally cut the primary electric that he helped install with his electrician friend and than denied any wrong doing. We are currently redoing ALL of his work and realize that he spoke a good line but reality, he doesn't know what he is doing.I would never recommend him to anyone.Desired Settlement: He should compensate for repairing the bad splice he caused which cost us an extra $1000.

Dear Mid - Hudson Dispute Services Mediator,
The driveway work that I estimated was not under estimated to get the job. Sometimes jobs can require some more or less material depending on the ground and how it goes into place. [redacted] was made aware of this and agreed that should that be the case the billing would be affected accordingly. I did not accidentally cut the primary electric, that was done by the electrician and was/is his responsibility. There is no reason to redo all of my work as it was done properly. I have pictures that I took throughout the varies steps of this job that could be provided if needed. [redacted] has paid me for the work I had done, one would imagine if my work was not satisfactory she would have held payment until it was satisfactory. I have been informed by other contractors in the area that she is known for making unfounded complaints.
If any further information is needed please feel free to call me ###-###-#### or email me [redacted] .
Thank you,

Response:
I notified Mr. [redacted] that the driveway he built for us was being washed away after some rains. After asking Mr. [redacted] to repair his defective work and having him refuse, we had two different contractors come to inspect the work and was told that Mr. [redacted] had used the wrong type of culvert and that everything was undersized and not sloping properly. Mr. [redacted] installed 10 culverts and 9 of the 10 culverts that he installed are not working. The consequence is that, with every rain fall, our driveway is being washed away by the water his culverts were supposed to divert.
Mr. [redacted] recommended the electrician who installed our line from the street to the house. That electrician, who was specifically recommended by Mr. [redacted], is the person who told me that Mr. [redacted] cut the electric line with his equipment. The only equipment that could do that damage was the equipment operated by Mr. [redacted]. The electrician didn't have any equipment on site that could do that type of damage. Mr. [redacted] is clearly responsible for the severed line and should have been professional enough to admit it and to repair his damage.
I have photographs documenting all of the phases of Mr.[redacted]'s work and photographs showing where the driveway has washed away.
In conclusion, we are not in the habit of filing complaints. We are good clients and regularly pay our bills. That is what we did with Mr. [redacted]. And, that is what we do with anyone who provides us with a service. That is our responsibility. However, contractors that are professional stand behind their work. Mr. [redacted] does not stand behind his work.
