Review: On April 19th we were told it would take a couple days for RL Bailey Company to complete an amendment to out 2015 taxes they prepared for us and they would call when that was completed so we could sign and send in our tax return. We have tried repeatedly by phone leaving voice messages to reach them when that phone call never came and I emailed their office email from their website on May 9th all with no response. We have already paid for the tax preparation and need to file our return they are supposed to finish preparing for us. The amendment was needed because of an error in calculation RL Bailey made the first time.Desired Settlement: We would like at minimum for them to contact us with the needed completed tax returns. A partial refund would be appreciated but honestly we just want to finish our taxes and move on. If they cannot complete the job we need a full refund immediately so we can take our business elsewhere and file our tax returns.

Response:
The [redacted] family came to our office on March 18, 2016 to have there 2016 Income taxes prepared. After the initial appointment we started the preparation of the 2016 tax returns and they were completed and delivered to the client on April 17, 2016. They were accepted by the IRS on April 17, 2016. When Mr. [redacted] picked up his taxes on April 17th he did not comment on service but that he was a little surprised with the amount due to the taxing authorities. After he went home he then notified us that he wanted to take an office in the home deduction which would save on his taxes. We agreed to amend his return, but we never gave a definite time on completion. It is my understanding we said it would be in a few days. The amended return was picked up on May 24, 2016 by Mr. [redacted] and no mentions of dissatisfaction were made. In reference to the implication about paying for tax service before completion, it has been my policy over the last 25 plus years that we only take money for preparation of taxes at the pickup time of the return by the client.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. We have received our tax forms back.
