May 1, 2017 Revdex.com of Metropolitan Houston 1333 W. Loop South, Suite 1200 Houston, TX 77027 Attn: Dispute Resolution Team RE: Complaint ID [redacted] Before we respond to client’s complaint, We at River Oaks Rug Cleaners are so sorry to hear of [redacted] father’s passing....
We know this is a very difficult time and extend our deepest sympathy to son, [redacted] and family. Back on November 15, 2016 we received a call from a lady (we had no knowledge of her relation to or capacity she functioned in for client: as we often receive service requests from clients relatives, designers, etc.) on behalf of [redacted] requesting we pick up a 10×12 rug to dry and clean due to a water leak. Our procedure for handling wet rugs that are brought in is to assess rug condition to determine proper method of handling then dry and treat with anti-microbial and enzymes to stop bacterial growth & control odor, prior to cleaning process. Upon completion of service client was billed our standard cost of $4.85 per square foot to dry/treat/clean wet rug. Requested service was completed and client was notified via voice message that rug was ready for delivery on December 19, 2016. Since then we left several messages as well as mailed reminder notices of balance due and to obtain convenient day to schedule delivery and had not received a response until we spoke to client’s former wife on April 19, 2017. At that time she informed us that [redacted] was deceased and she would contact client’s old secretary and her daughter to contact client’s son, [redacted] to inform him of this matter. Prior to that day we had not received any response to our attempts to reach client or been made aware of client’s passing. Recently we received a voice message of son, [redacted]’s contact information and have left several messages, but have been unsuccessful in reaching him. We were puzzled to receive communication from client’s son through complaint against our business as we have not spoken to him directly about anything. Although our company provides professional rug cleaning service, we are not appraisers. We do not sell rugs. Due to hardship client’s son has endured with father passing, we will accept what he feels is fair to pay, waive all storage fees, and would like to arrange delivery of his father’s rug at his earliest convenience.
