Review: I saw the add in the Daily News paper about helping your back. I thought it maybe it would help me and went to see him. I was asked If I had a MRI. I said it was an old one it would have been around 15 years old. I told him I would need a ex-ray which he said it wouldn't show any thing. Before l left his waiting room one visit I was struck in my left leg and hip with a severe nerve pain and couldn't walk and sit with it for days and no sleep. I didn't need the machine he used for my back.I needed exercise for my back. The x-rays would have showed that.He charged away too much $5100.00 besides $47.00 the first office visit and also I had to buy medicine from him which was not cheap. I have had to have 2 ex-rays on my back and shots and medicine to try and get better. The first thing my Dr.ask me if I had a ex-ray. I feel I need some refund for my expense and still trying to get myself better.

Response:
Mrs. [redacted] presented at my office on January 12, 2015, with a complaint oflower back pain with co-morbidities of neck pain, left arm pain and bilateral knee pain, arthritis and gout. The primary complaint had been present "for years", and the lastcouple of months she decides to get something done due to the pain. She had been taking ibuprofen and she also had seen an orthopedic surgeon who told hershe had bulging discs. He prescribed medication that she could not take due to anallergic reaction. An evaluation was performed and recommendations were made. She was also informedof other treatment options. She was given materials describing the recommendedtherapies and encouraged her to research them to become more familiar with them. Onthe second visit she was given a complete session of all modalities at no charge so shecould experience the recommendations before deciding to pursue the course of treatment.Upon acceptance of the recommendations Mrs. [redacted] was given a form with all feesand a notice that acceptance of the recommendations did not imply or guaranteea cure. She signed the form acknowledging the caveat. She began care on January 15, 2015. She showed improvement within 2 weeks reportingdecreased pain January 29. We discussed light exercise at that visit. She continued slowimprovement until February 16 when she caught her foot on a chair leg when leaving theoffice, and apparently twisted her lower back. She did not inform me at the time, but toldme on her next visit February 19. By February 26 she was improved with less back andleft knee pain. She continued to show slow improvement through March 23, 2015. Shewas seen an additional 5 visits. The additional visits with multiple procedures totaled$2288.00. Mrs [redacted] was not charged for these additional sessions. She was discharged April 20. At that time she had soreness in the lower back muscles. She was instructed to continue with alternation heat/ice, avoid unilateral movements suchas vacuuming, and encourage to do light exercise such as walking. No financial adjustments will be made.Sincerely, Steven C Riggleman, DC
