Response to the Revdex.com Complaint Filed by : [redacted] St. Charles. MO 63304 Daytime Phone: [redacted] Evening Phone: [redacted] E-mail: [redacted]@aol.com   Person Responding: [redacted] Senior Project Manager Ridge Top Exteriors [redacted]...

Florissant, MO 63031 [redacted] e-mail: [redacted]@ridgetopexteriors.com   Let me preference the reply to this complaint by acknowledging that this was not our company’s best effort, and there were mistakes made during the work on owner’s home.  However, we went to great lengths that when an issue did occur, we reacted by giving our best effort to reconcile these issues with in our control. To start with Mrs. Owner claim that the original siding crew was not a real siding crew, she was wrong. The original siding crew was a crew that we have use on multiple jobs without any complaints. Matter of fact this is a Veteran Owned Company that we use as one of our subcontractor crews, both the owners are U.S. Army Veteran. But upon her insistence, I had the siding crew removed; after they cleaned up they left the home in the best shape as possible. Her husband asked us to leave the aluminum siding which we don’t normally do so he could turn it in for scrap metal money. The crew did not have enough room on their truck to remove all the waste; I made a special trip out the following morning to remove the balance of the trash. There was no punishment by making her wait for over two weeks. All our other crews were booked doing other jobs and could not be pulled off the jobs they were working on. I explained that to Mrs. owner that it would take approx. two weeks for the next crew to be available. From what I remember she told me fine she would wait. She did call me and tell me she did not think that there was enough siding, I when out and looked at the amount of siding that was on the ground, and it matched the amount of siding that the insurance company had on their estimate. I did notice that to original project manager did not have any outside aluminum corners on the jobsite. I immediately placed these on order with our supplier, since these were also special order it did take two weeks to get in. This did delay the siding crew getting to her home by about 5 days. The crew started installing the siding, did the side, rear and part of the back of the house, when Mr. Owner informed me that the siding that was being installed did not have the Styrofoam insulation/backing. I stop what I was doing and went to our supplier to pick up some ¼” foam board insulation. I talked with Mr. Owner and told him we would remove all the siding including the siding on the garage and install the ¼” foam board behind it. He told me it was not necessary to do so, it was an unheated garage, if we would remove the siding from the rear of the house and put the ¼” foam board behind all the siding on the house that that would be good for him. That is what we did, he did not ask for nor did we offer him any credit for the ¼” foam board on the side and rear of the garage. The work order did not specify installing the foam board separately, because the aluminum siding is a available in two types one with the foam attached to the back of the siding and one with no insulation on the back (which was shipped), there forth the ¼” foam was installed separately. We thought the install was back on track, then it was discovered that the amount of siding was short because we went by the amounts on the insurance estimate. We ordered four more squares of siding and foam board to finish. Since this siding was special order and non-returnable it did take two weeks to get it in. Once our suppliers had it in stock it was delivered to the jobsite. It did take a couple days for the siding crew to get back to finish the job because they had to finish the current job they were working on. We thought about splitting the crew and sending a couple installers over to the house to complete it, but since Mrs. Owner did not like the three man crew that first started this job. We waited for the whole crew to be able to go back. The crew installed the balance of the siding and installed the cable lines where they could under the siding also. When we were done, I knock on the door to have Mrs. Owner come out to review the job before the crew left. She would not come to the door. So I left her the sign off papers in between the front door and screen door. I later got a call from Mr. Owner, he asked me to come out and do a walk through on the home. Some of the cable lines would not fit completely under the siding because they were to short; one area near the gas lines the wires were tangles with the gas meter pipes. I met with Mr. Owner and we were able to straighten them out and get behind the siding. We then discuss, possible having the cable company come out and re-run / attach some of the cable line if needed. I told him if the cable company had a charge for this, we would work with him on the cost. Mrs. Owner pointed out several small items where the metal trim did not look right to her, so I agreed to have the siding crew come out and trim them better. She then proceed to tell me that her window where not caulked where the siding J channel abutted the window metal. I could see that there was not any caulk there before and I explained that to Mrs. Owner. I also told her that the insurance estimate also did not have it noted to be replaced on her insurance estimate. To appease Mrs. Owner and as a good will gesture to make up for all the delays in this job, I agreed to have the siding crew caulk the J channel to the windows at no charge and at Ridge Tops expense. The siding crew completed the repairs and caulked the windows. I did go back and review the before pictures as I tried to explain to Mrs. Owner they do not have caulk at the joints between the J channel and metal on the window. So yes she does not have the insulation behind the siding on the side and rear of garage where her husband told us we did not need to take off the siding and install it, but she does have caulked installed at the J channel where it meets the metal trim at no charge. This would be about a wash as far as the cost would go. So yes, the Owners should still be liable for their deductible payment of $1,000.00.   [redacted] Senior Project manager Ridge Top Exteriors [redacted] Florissant, MO 63031 [redacted]@ridgetopexteriors.com   See the Attached photos
